Finding some Guts- Shirtless progress pic by New Years day
Now that I'm half the way to my goal weight I have set a goal to post a shirtless progress picture.
Legs day- a love to hate relationship
Is there really anything better than the feeling you get AFTER a great legs workout? I think its because the BEFORE and DURING are so mentally challanging for me. There are so many little places during the workout to cheat or quit inside your head.
The rush is beating whats in my head rather than the weight itself.
First pair of 38in jeans in 10 yrs
It's been the little victories that have kept going. putting on my first pair of sub 40ish jeans made this holiday extra special. 8 inches off and 6 more to go.
The BEST workout of my life
Yep I'm one of those newbies that feels compelled to ramble on about great workouts only 5 weeks into fixing 20 years of bad living. But this one may be slightly different.
So I'm now getting to that cool point where I cant wait for the next workout. Results are slowly starting to show and I just could not wait to go to the gym this morning. I jumped out of bed, got dressed, made a protein shake and headed for the door. Just as i was about to turn the knob my wife yells to me "your'e not going anywhere, I need to take your oldest daughter to Brownies this morning and your'e watching the 4 year old". ARRRRG "real life" trying to stop me again!
So no racks and racks of premade barbells and no fly machines, we're going old school with the basement bench set and a 4yr old.
We both get settled, her with her Dora kitchen set and me with a little classic rock, a flimsy incline bench, and frankly a bad additude. About 3 or 4 half hearted sets into the workout, Bruce's Jungleland comes on' and the little one and I start dancing around laughing like crazy. When the song ends she looks at me and says " daddy, I'm really happy you like working out because I like your new muscles and your smaller belly".
Now some of you young bucks without kids wont understand this until you've got a little angel of your own, but for a 43 year old Dad, THAT IS MOTIVATION. After that the music got louder... the both of us dancing around to Santana, Steve Miller, and of course some more Bruce. The sets got heavier and longer, and without a doubt in my mind, this was the best workout since I was 18 and built like steel.
I know that the gym has all the tools I need, and it will be my place to transform my lifestyle, but I'm going to do my best to make Saturday's fitness day with the girls in the basement. Who knows how much longer they'll want to dance with there crazy father!
BAD week
Last week we had our yearly Kick off meeting in Orlando and I am disappointed to say that dispite the hotel having a great gym, I didnt work out once. Cheated way too many times to mention.
I really need to get a solid grip on my travel eating and exercising since I'm on the road 50-60% of the time

OK, posted a couple of pic's to remember Chubby dad when I pass through my goals. not quite ready to pull out the shirtless pics yet.
Workouts are going well. tried a sample pack of a creatine product and man that was the best lifting I have done in years. Decided to buy some NOexplode and give it a longer trial.
Lost almost 7 lbs so far. still pissed at myself for lettng things get so far out of hand, but that is the past. need to focus on living differently going forward.
getting started...AGAIN!!
Ok< so here’s the story. Last years made the same resolutions weight and Smoking.
In 2008 the smoking lasted maybe 2 weeks and I was back at it but I worked out and ate well for 4 straight months and went from 280 to 249, and was feeling pretty good. Problem was my goal. I wanted to look good for a company event and once that passed everything stopped and yada yada yada here i am 10 lbs heavier than when I started last year, 290.
The good news it that I saw I could do it and while I do have some time bound goals I now understand that my overall goal is to live healthly and strong rather than lose x by y.
So, on to this year,
I stopped smoking first this time. I have been butt free now for just over 90 days. I think I have finally done it
Workouts and my new eating plan started 2 weeks ago and just like last year I somehow expected the weight to just fall away. Even though I know better, I still expect things to happen faster.
Arms and Legs are sore and it fells good. Also following the diet this year seems much easier. I joined to give me a way to be better connected to people who are living healthy daily. Love to hear from anyone who has had success in transforming
