totally bummed out

May 10, 2009

Hurt my shoulder really bad at work.  Now I cant bench and I was only a week from reaching a goal of 315 5×5.  I am so discouraged.  I just really hope this heals within a month cause I dont want to lose the strenght Ive gotten thus far.  The last week I could lift heavy I did 300 5×5 easy and did a 6th set at the end of 315 for 5reps.  I was feeling really confident till the injury.  I ve been doing some rotator cuff exercises and what ever else doesnt aggravate the shoulder but I am so ticked.

Mind power-Far beyond driven

April 13, 2009

Have you ever lifted a weight thinking it was less than what it really turned out to be?  Did it feel like the weight you thought it was?  Have you ever lied to your self about how much weight is on the bar?  What do you do to prepare to lift and what do you think about?  I think we forget how much our mind can influence our weight training.  We all have limits but our limits are usually way past the point we push our selves.  I think one of the most important and often over looked part of training is our minds and our mental state.  Youve all seen that guy that goes to the gym and goes through the motions but mostly socializes (one of the reasons I train at home).  To get the most out of a training session I think its important to focus and go to that deep dark scary place in your mind that brings out that exposive energy and drive.  I have a very specific routine that I go through every time I lift.  I know it helps me reach my goal.  Are you getting the most out of your workouts?  Use the strongest part of your body, your mind.  Just some food for thought.

I think its normal to be very critical of ones self.  Its hard to see the progress of our hard training  and diet if you dont keep track of it.  Im talking about keeping a log of your workouts and weights used, taking pictures to compare and writing down and planing out nutrition.  I have learned how important this is because I have a hard time seeing my progress unless I look at how far Ive come through pics and my workout log.  Keeps me on track too.
