It is no surprise I am my own worse enemy

Monday, August 31st, 2009

Because every now and then I kick the living sh*t out of me.

So true, that part of that song. Sometimes I’m an enemy to my fat, and work hard to slay it, other times I’m an enemy to me eating healthy and sucumb to cookies. Its so hard to find that balance sometimes, Its nice to kick my own ass workout times but I know too many and I’m burned out.

Then the evil side comes out with the food now and then, but I’m human its to be expected, at least I haven’t had that other part of the song happen to me in a long time.

Please tell me why……………My car is in the front yard………..and I’m sleeping with my clothes on………..

Not to say I’ve never done, heck at least the guy in the song ends up sleeping in his bed, once in my hey day I woke up on the floor, oh to be young again, LOL

Anyhow I kicked my ass working out, first things first, I met my goal of 1111 miles on my treadmill and my new goal is now 1250 by the end of the year, I’m at 1117 now, I did cardio yesterday on the treadmill

And some cardio this morning on the treadmill

Then 5min pounding Bob(he scared the sh*t out of me during my weight workout, lol)

circuits: butt squats 95×8x3

w/one arm db rows: 30.5×8x3

w/low cable crossovers: 30×8x3

circuit: Smith lunges:75×8x3

w/very wide lat pulldowns: 50×8x3

w/wide bench press: 65×8x3

circuit: one leg knee ext: 70×8x3

w/back ext: 25×8x3

5min stretching

Later I did 20min HITT on my rbike Alwyn cosgrove style.

Now off to pick up my rugrat.

My hair has a mind of its own

Friday, August 28th, 2009

Especially in high humid days, I swear it adds another inch to my height on high humid days. I just smile and say "Oh well at least I have hair" Once upon a time I didn’t so I never complain about my hair.

Today was a bodyweight exercise days I did circuits

5min stretching

circuit:side leg raises off bench w/supine chinups w/incline pushups

circuit:donkey kicks w/supine pullups w/decline pushups

circuit: thighmaster(yep I have one, got it from an old neighbor) w/ back ext

5min stretching

Cardio, some on the ellpictical some on the treadmill. I’m now 5miles away from 1111 miles I’m pretty sure I’ll make it next week, when I do my next goal before the end of the year will be 1250 miles.

I did hills on it, constantly working on the glutes. Read a cool article about whether your glutes are activated or not while you work out.

http://figureathlete.tmuscle.com/free_online_article/most_recent/how_strong_are_your_glutes_really

I could do the 1st test with my right leg no problem but not at all with my left. The 2nd test was easy for me but I think that has to do with all the yoga I’ve done.

So I’ll have to work on getting that left glute up to par and activated, don’t want no lazy glutes, they need to be working damn it!

Been doing real good with my food too this week though my hubby’s birthday is tommorow so I am pretty sure I will eat a piece of cake and hopefully no more for the week it sits there. Going to make him "healthy" lasagna(think whole grain, low fat ingredients" he loves lasagana and I rarely make it, so that’ shis present from me.

Though he liked the card I gave him, had a a very well endowed lady on the cover with the title:brain age test inside

The question inside was "what color was her purse" below that it said if you said "she had a purse????" then you’re still young.

When he saw her pic his eyes bugged out, opened the card and said "She had a purse….." turned the card over and was like "wow she did"

too funny.

So I use posters to motivate me

I have them hanging in my cardo room:Ron Coleman, Michelle Berger, Jessica Biel, Jennifer Garner. I just recently hung up Sly Stallone from the Expendables and got some new pics to hang up.

Of course another Jessica Biel from Blade Trinity, she was so ripped for that movie and I like her philosophy as an actress I read she stays in the middle ground. She doesn’t keep all the muscle but she doesn’t lose it immediately like so many do for movie parts.

wish they all felt that way, Hillary Swank was so ripped for Million dollar Baby now she looks like skelton woman, so I have a pic of her made during the movie, hung up.

Anyhow I guess my point is use whatever it takes to motivate you. As I do my sprint intervals on the treadmill and I loathe running I think "Now Kermane you can’t look as good as Jessica Biel did in Blade if you don’t" and I do them.

So now you know something I use to push myself. I know when I went thru my cancer 5 years ago I was mortified, I took care of myself, I worked out(cardio, light weights) and yet I got cancer, what was the point of all that work if I was going to get cancer, I mean who gives a sh*t, I should’ve just ate like a pig, and layed around.

Well luckily a part of my brain pointed out to me that I was in my 30s, there were children with cancer who would never get to enjoy their life like I had, so stop wallowing in self pity. Also a plus from me taking care of myself was that instead of feeling like I was dying from the chemo, I had two days of being tired then I was back to me.

So when life makes you think, WTF. Think about the big picture, not just the small pic in front of you.

Today I had to go to the doctor, 35minute drive, 2 hours there, another drive to get bloodwork done, so I had no time for cardio before picking up my son but i got my weights in.

wu:5min pounding on Bob

circuits:SLDL:115×8x3

w/upright rows: 50×8x3

w/flat flys: 23×8x3

circuit: rdls: 95×8x3

w/penley rows: 60×8x3

w/incline flys: 20×8x3

circuit: single leg hamstring curls:50×8x3

w/military presses:20×8x3

10min cooldown on rbike.

What will I look like when I’m 62?

Well I hope instead of being saggy and baggy and hunchbacked I’ll have awesome muscle like Sly Stallone. I mean the man is ripped and he is 62 years old!

I always cringe at the thought of having one of those humps, and looking like I belong in the Bell Tower at Notre Dame so I constantly try and work on my posture, years of bad habits when I was younger(thing being a teenage girl and towering over guys in your class) are hard to break, but I work on them.

Today was day 2 of AMCBC challenge so it was bodyweight only exercise

Of course I did some cardio on my treadmill, lots of hills involved. I’m like 14miles away from my goal of 1111 miles on the thing so once I reach that I’ll have to set a new goal for the end of the year, I’d probably reached it if I hadn’t needed to take time off.

I did my cardio early in the day, later I did my bodyweight exercises and let me tell you I had DOMS this morning and my body was not liking even bodyweight exercises, will have to try and take No Explode tommorow with my weighted workout.

5min beating on Bob(he was so bad during my time off)

circuits: squats:bwx8×3

w/supine pullups:bwx8×3

w/manly pushups:bwx8×3

circuit:backwards lunges:bwx8×3

w/supine chinups: bwx8×3

w/diamond pushups:bwx8×3

circuit: supermans:bwx8×3

w/fire hydrants:bwx8×3

followed by 10min cooldown on my rbike.

Got my candy machines taken care of today, tommorow I have a doctor’s appointment, to check the old thyroid. I passed a big milestone with my cancer this month, on August 13th I was officially 5 years cancer free!!!!! Plus I had a birthday August 16th. Big month for me.

I’m glad I was impatient and was born in August instead of October, lots more fun things to do outdoors in the summer though I do love Halloween. HMMMM…..

I’m back…starting a new challenge for myself, day 1 of AMCBC

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

No I’m not telling you what it stands for, lol. I’ll tell you at the end of 12 weeks.

So I had to take time off from overtraining, for a couple months I’ve really been struggling pushing thru my workouts, feeling sick, etc, and I realized I’d overtrained, duh.

So I took 3 weeks off, first day back today.

first thing some major cardio on my treadmill wearing my weighted vest, and you know what all summer my phone barely rang especially during the 3 weeks I took off from working out and damn if I didn’t get 5 calls while trying to do some cardio on my treadmill, I mean WTF???

Then after cleaning my son’s goldfish bowl(he won 3 at the fair this month) and cleaning my turtle’s tank(he likes to hiss at me when I put him in the tub while I clean his tank, will animal abuse be called if I spank him?? Just kidding)

I did my weights, switching things up, doing fullbody workouts for the following month, 3 days with weights, 2 with just my bodyweight, only this week it will be 2 fullbody, heheh

wu: pounded on Bob, he likes it

circuits: sumo squats with/wide lat pulldowns and/flat db presses

squats w/feet together with/seated rows and incline db presses

smith lunges w/back ext

followed by 10 min cooldown on my ellpictical watching Law and Order SVU(I’m now a fan, I watch it during cardio usually if its on)

Today was my son’s first day of 2nd grade I hope it well, I’m leaving in 5minutes to pick him up. Had to run out and get a tube for my bike tire, I realized today I’ve never had to buy a tube for a bike before in all my life.

I missed my kiddo today so I’m really looking forward to hearing about his day.
