Oh to be a dog

My dog is in awesome shape??? Why? Because I control her food. She gets nothing extra only her 2 meals a day, she’s a big dog, thus the 2 meals. I throw her outside for an hour of play time. Her life is totally controlled by me and she is a prime specimen of physical shape.

Why then do I struggle with my own food? Can’t someone decide how much I should eat a day and what it will be and give it to me where I have no input on it at all??? I know, I should rule myself with an iron fist but sometimes I don’t, I need to start thinking of myself as my owner and I’m the pet.

Will I be a good owner? And feed me only healthy things or a bad one that feeds me fatty foods? Will I be a good pet? And eat the healthy things and not bitch and moan that my family is eating something I really want but know I shouldn’t have?(can you say pizza or chilli fries) Will I not use my opposable thumbs and open the fridge when my owner is playing on the computer??

But I was a good owner so far today with eats and play time otherwise known as working out.

35min ss cardio on the treadmill, various inclines, speeds in my "fat" suit.

I was watching Biggest Loser and laughing last night at their reactions to changing trainers. I thought it was excellent because they need to learn how to rely on themselves and not become dependent on a trainer.

I fast forwarded thru a lot of the boo hoo stuff, I love, love my tivo. Also watched the cattiness of REal Housewives of Orange County. Nothing like rich women going at each other, I was waiting on Steve from Jerry Springer to come out(in my defense my parents watched it! I was forced too, one tv.)

I’m telling you, we have too many choices. People version of dog food is the answer, LOL.

  2. janthony Says:

Here is the issue. People eat for pleasure, dogs eat for survival.

People have to change constantly. A dog doesn’t care, as long as it fills their needs

Get to the point where food is nothing more than fuel to you, and it will be much easier.

I’ve sucked at being my own owner lately. Gone over a cliff w/ diet.

Ditto w/ janthony. I’d go further, and say food is an addiction for most people……eating not only for pleasure, but out of habit, as a stress reliever, crutch for emotional issues, for comfort, etc. Esp the non-healthy choices out there. Kinda sounds like an addiction, doesn’t it?

Coming to terms with how food impacts your life is a big step…keep thinking this way and you will overcome any food issues you have. Keep eating right and working out and after awhile you won’t want any food that doesn’t help you with your bodybuilding goals!

Thanks everyone, I agree Shannon people dogfood would make it simpler.

Janthony-yes too many of us forget that food is fuel and is necessary for survival.

Al-yes food is an addiction for some. I know when I was a teen I used it as a crutch that turned into bullimia, thankfully I don’t use it that way anymore.

I agree Coley. I’ve been trying to think about "how will this fuel my body" more than, how sinfullly tasty something is.

When I visited the endocrinologist recently, she said that if she puts people on a diet, any type of diet, then they lose weight. Weight loss may not even be the goal of the diet, the fact that’s it different and they have to pay attention, means that they actually pay attention and are aware of what they are "allowed" to stuff in.

Your vet needs to give you a list of acceptable foods that you can feed your pet. Chili fries, etc. won’t be on the list. Problem solved.

Everyday is different. I’ve been having the "munchies" for the last couple of days so I allowed myself an extra protein bar. That’s despite me viewing food as fuel.

Let’s face it, we are emotional beings with hormones that have an invisible affect on the feelings and if you’re not aware of it, it could lead to many unwanted trips to the food cupboard.

  8. MAGL Says:

Okay, thats 2 blogs I’ve read so far and they both talk about DELICIOUS foods. Man, I dont think I’ve ever gone 2 weeks without junk food. (this friday will be 2 weeks, so Im close. And except for alcohol last friday, but thats a different category) And after eating Fish and veggies tonight, all im thinkin about is how it doesnt taste so great and would LOVE a slice of pizza. Or 2…or 3….

…just give me the whole pie, or I’ll eat your hand.

Brad-my dog would love it if I fed her people food, but alas she only gets Iams dog food, poor thing.

Veronique-yes emotions and hormones really test willpower that’s for sure.

Magl-ok I will not mention the p words, lol.
