Best day for my arms

April 14, 2008

I had a great arm workout today. I have just gotten over a plateau and am seeing new growth. I’m not the only one who has noticed either. I received so many compliments on my arms today at the gym. I am used to guys making comments but I had three different women tell me how nice my arms are. It was a real confidence booster and validation that I am making progress. I am seeing new muscle surfacing that I didn’t know even existed. I found a new one at the top of my forearm above my elbow. So much fun!

Charge!SuperShot and BSN Dessert

So I got a ton of samples at the Expo and I decided that I am going to blog about what I think of them. So here goes-

I drank a Charge!SuperShot before a day of rockclimbing. It tasted soo nasty and I didn’t really feel a difference in my energy level.

Drank a BSN Chocolate-coconut Dessert protein shake today after my workout. Tasted surprisingly good. I used milk and it was smooth and yummy. I’m going to drink a few today since I have a ton of sample packets. Would definitely purchase this product in the future!

Expo Notes

So I went to the Boise Fit Expo last night. What a crazy experience!

I got there 2 hours early so I could be at the front of the line. There were about 10 people ahead of me when I got there and that number grew to about 40 with all the cutting going on. I swear one kid let his whole football team in front of him. :) I few of the ’special guests’ made there way outside to pose with the bodybuilding.com sponsored race car.  Bob Cicherillo, Mak Attack, Hollywood, and the Fame Reps were a few come out and pose.

I had met up with a couple friends in line, but actually ended up hanging out with the lady ahead of me in line. Her name was Janet and she happened to be the concierge at the hotel all the special guests were staying at. They all recognized her and we got to chat with some of them. YAY!

We finally got in the door at about 6:10 and squeezed our way around the bottom floor and then to the upper floor. This was my first BFE so I had no idea it would be like this. I seriously felt like a sardine for about 2 hours. It also felt like a race to grab as much free stuff as possible while pretending to listen to what the vendors had to say. After filling 3 bags, we made our way to the dance pit.

We found a good place to stand up on a ledge. It was a great view for the events to follow. The bikini contest had a very poor turnout. There was about 6 girls. As soon as the girl who ended up winning walked on stage, I KNEW she would win. She had the best ass out there! She was also very confident, pretty, and had a rockin suit. There were a few girls that could stand to put on a little muscle and lose a little bf but it was pretty entertaining to see all the hooting and hollering.

There were a few performances by a local dance troupe, Studio C. They did a good job, but their choice of costume wasn’t very flattering. (come on this is a fitness expo!) Mak Attack was totally cheesy as always. It was fun to watch, but a professional choreographer  would help tremendously. Her back up dancers were also not the best example of being in shape. I guess they were there to help Mak look better. There was also a performance by the bboy break dance crew. THEY WERE AMAZING! Best entertainment of the night!

The Mr. Puniverse contest was interesting. A few were booed off for having muscles, a few weren’t even old enough to compete, and the ones that were left were pathetic. They were great sports though. They all had their fan clubs rooting them on. At one point the top three took their pants off for a pose down. It was hilarious. The guy that won last year had improved too much to keep his title and passed it on to a scrawny red head kid. So fun! He earned a 250 gift certificate to bb.com. Hopefully he will use it on weight-gainers!

There was pose routine by Marika Johansson. She was a warrior princess with a sword. It was pretty cool, but a little drawn out.

I took my pic with Jay Cutler of course. He’s huge!! -and in desperate need of a new hairstyle!!

I wanted to meet Jamie Eason. She was mostly the reason I went. I saw her onstage and that was it. She spent most of the night backstage. boo!!!

Anyway, I had fun, and will definitely be going next year. Hopefully they will chose a bigger place to hold the event at next time.

Bodybuilding Expo, Training, Vacation…

I am so excited for the Expo on Friday! Even though I will have to go by myself since none of my friends are really interested, I am sure I will see some trainers from my gym and a few other people I know. I am most excited to meet Jamie Eason. She has been my biggest inspiration and motivation. I hope there are some good vendors there and I’m sure the bikini contest will be fun. Maybe I will enter if I ever get a boob job and a decent tan. :)

Training update:

I am doing pullups and dips unassisted which is a big milestone for me. I also officially have a six-pack. I will have to post a pic sometime. I am really seeing gains in my arms. My biceps are the biggest they’ve ever been. I love having muscles!!

My vacation is two weeks away. I seriously need to get tanning. I’ve gone 4 times and I’m still white. I need to find a cheaper place to go. I can’t afford 60/month to tan.

I get my braces off my teeth next week!!! I can’t wait to look like a grown up again.

I am going to start studying for my Personal Training Certificate. I am so excited to help other people!!

pullups and bubble butts

I did 3 chinups in a row today! YAY me! Next week I’m going to increase my weights. What seemed so heavy to me is starting to feel lighter. I love feeling strong. I am starting to see more definition in my back. I have never liked my back, it has always been ’soft’. Also my upper abs are starting to emerge from the fat.

I haven’t been very good about cutting the crap out of my diet. Crap just tastes too good. I will go grocery shopping Saturday and restock with good food. I need to send Danny’s bag of bite size 3 musketeers with him to work. I can’t resist them. I don’t know what I’m going to do when Halloween comes around. I can’t keep my hands off those candy corns at the office. I am paying for it though. I was doing so well and was keeping weight below 130 and now the lowest I have been all week is 135. GRRR!!!! Crappy food!! Why are you so tasty????
I opened up a juicer that I got at my wedding reception over 5 years ago. I juiced 3 oranges for some fresh juice. YUM!!! I will never drink frozen concentrate again! Gotta get me some grapefruits to juice to go with breakfast.

I’ve got to break away from the pasta! Maybe I will try wheat pasta if I can’t quit all together. I am also going to get a food processor so I can make my own sauces.m

My friend, Nicole, got a membership at my gym yesterday. I took her tonight to show her around and how to use some machines and what you can do with free weights. She doesn’t seem to enthused about working out. I think she is scared to get ‘big legs’ if she lifts too much. AHH!! Whoever came up with this myth must be shot! Even if legs did get ‘big’, I would rather have big FIRM legs than skinny fat cellulite thighs. I can’t wait till my butt and legs become one. I know I will always have a bubble butt, it’s the way I was built, but it’s going to be one lifted bubble!!

Ass to Grass

I did ATG squats yesterday. It kicked my trash! Today when I was doing my arm workout I felt like an old person everytime I had to sit down on the bench. My 40 minute workout took me 70 minutes! I’m still eating clean and resisting temptation everywhere I turn. I can’t throw out all the bad food in my house cause my husband would be pretty mad. He supports me in eating healthy, he just doesn’t want to. Oh well. Maybe when he sees how good I look he will get on board too.

I CANNOT believe how fast the weight is shedding!!!!! all I have done is change what I eat and how often I eat. Who knew it was this simple?? I am literally shocked. I have dropped 8 lbs in a week and a half. A little scary… I’d better be careful or I might just disappear!

Cardio Day!

I hate doing cardio. I usually skip it and just lift more weights, but I decided that I’d better do this.

Elliptical Machine

50 minutes

4 miles

550 calories

The scale at the gym said 130 1/2 lbs. I like that.

This morning I had kashi for breakfast and when I got home from the gym I ate a banana, cheated in a teensy serving of mac & cheese, and later for lunch had some almonds with brown rice. I am going to have some applesauce and tunafish in about 2 hours. I need to keep on top of drinking more water. I always forget till I’m thirsty. I have a roast with carrots, onions, celery and red potatoes in the slow cooker to eat tonight. I am really excited. It’s cold outside and it will feel sooo nice to eat some hot food.

Last night my husband and I were out late on business stuff. He wanted to grab fast food on the way home. I resisted!! yay me!!
