When I woke up this morning, I knew my daughter’s cold caught me. I finally managed to get off the couch and get some food in my belly. I can’t grow fabulous legs if I don’t eat the day after leg day!! :/
I’m really concerned for my daughter right now, OK, and me. We both have the swine flu symptoms. I know a few people that have confirmed cases and, yes, I’ve been around them. So….no gym for me so I don’t spread anything around. I’m just hoping that I didn’t spread anything during my awsome leg workout yesterday. That’s the problem….you can spread things before you even know you’re sick! Just remember to wash and sanatize often during your visit to the gym!

Its snowing….and it doesn’t look like its going to stop anytime soon. My poor dog wants to go outside, but she just turns around and comes right back in. I want to go outside and pick fruit, but I think I’ll wait!
On a good note, my shoulders are extremely sore today! Is it wrong to like the pain you feel from a good, hard workout? I think my brain might be malfunctioning when I like to feel sore muscles….things that make you go hmmmm……

OK, so I went to the doc yesterday about a bulging disk in my back and he told me to stop doing anything that puts weight on my spine, seated leg press (with the back rest), and dead lifts (especially straight-leg deads). So now, with the things that I am not supposed to do because of my knee….like stairs, lunges, and full-range extensions; I am really frustrated because my legs really need more size to be able to place at any completions!

Thank you! They definitely helped! If you read my previous post you’ll know what happened….
Update: The tumor was spindled with fingers, so they couldn’t remove all of it, but Ernie is doing great! They thought he would be partially paralyzed, and he’s not at all. They thought he would be in the hospital until Sunday or Monday, he came home yesterday! I am still praying that its not cancer (waiting on the pathology) and I’m still praying that what is left in there doesn’t grow.
Some people are awesome….Ernie’s son (also a dentist) has been working extra hours (including 12 hour days) to see Ernie’s patients and insists all the production goes to his dad. Its a beautiful thing to see when people work from their heart, not for their pocket.
Thanks again for your prayers!!!

Please say a prayer for someone very dear to me that was just life-flighted to a nearby hospital with a bleeding mass on his brain. I don’t want to mention his name until I find out how he is and exactly what is going on, but please help me pray.
Update: Thank you all for your prayers. The mass is wrapped around his cerebral artery. He goes into surgery at 12 MST. They are unsure of prognosis at this point. He is my boss, but not only my boss….he is like a second dad to me. He is the type of person that brings his employees into his family and makes you feel accepted, worthwhile and appreciated. He’s the type of person that makes you feel like a better person just for having the privilege to know him. Pray for his wife, too. She has lost 2 children already, one just last year. She is a very special, nice, positive person….and so are his other children. They really need your prayers.
Hang in there Dr. Ernie!!!

I’m sitting here trying to muster up enough motivation to hit some heavy legs….
I started a new training program and its working, but its tough. I hit legs twice a week, once light and once heavy. Well, today is my heavy day and I am totally dragging my feet. I didn’t sleep well last night because that gorgeous full moon kept me up. It was so bright, it was like having a spotlight on my bedroom window all night. I think I will have to drink a whole Rockstar for motivation…..that’s it! A little liquid motivation and its all good!!

In my line of work, I see alot of different types of people. Those that seem to never run short of happiness and luck…..and those that don’t seem to have anything go right for them. I have to keep thinking that we all have struggles in life of all different sorts, but some people just hide their struggles better than others. Maybe the "lucky ones" are the people that actually DEAL with things better, so it appears that they are luckier because they make things happen for themselves. What really impresses me are the people with physical limitations that just go out and attack life. Why can’t we all have that strong and positive attitude? Those people aren’t sitting back, feeling sorry for themselves the way most of us do……that are physically capable of getting our butts off the couch and into the gym.
Hats off to all you positve people!!!! We all need to know you!!

I’m home from the Master’s Nationals this weekend. I saw some very impressive physiques out there so I am proud to have even been there. I am usually in class B, but I was in Class C, which was the largest class (of course) and the winner on this class was the overall winner as well. I didn’t place well (15th) but I definitely made improvements in my overall package so I wasn’t disappointed at all. I just need to take more time off, eat, and train hard….I wish it was that easy. Suffering from gastroparesis makes gaining weight an almost impossible task (the stomach doesn’t push food through, so it stays there for hours). Sometimes drinking too much water cause alot of bloating and pain. This is just something I have to work through and play close attention to coordinating my heavy training days on days when I’m not "flared up."
Anyway, here is a pic from the show….

Today’s my birthday and I am deep into my pre-competition diet….low carbs and my brain is malfunctioning! I can’t believe the amounts of stuff I am forgetting! Now I sit and wonder….is it the diet or the age????? I just hope I can remember to get everything I need packed for the show….I had a dream about forgetting that I was even in a show and next thing I know, I’m on stage in my sweats….horrible feeling!!
