2nd place

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

I just got back from a fun week in Vegas competing at the Fitness/Figure/Bikini/Model/Bodybuilding America Pageant with 600 competitors!  So many of my friends were there that I haven’t seen for a few years, so that made it even more special!  (my poor hubby had to put up with our giggling and antics)      Big smile :)

I competed in bikini and figure because my physique can go either way, depending on the judges and the other contestants.  I missed top 10 in bikini finalists by 1, placing 11th and made top 5 finalists in figure!  I was shocked because I really thought I’d do better in bikini.  As they were naming 5th, 4th, and then 3rd and I was still standing, I had the biggest smile on my face!  I placed 2nd and I’m very thrilled with that…..now I have that 1st place to work towards!!  I’m glad I placed in figure because that was my main focus for this show.  I won the Bikini Classic at the Figure Universe in 2006 (same organization), so I really wanted to try for something else.

I talked a friend of mine into competing at the show and he did very well….won his weight class in bodybuilding and 2nd overall!  Congrats Richard!  The inventor of Targit Trainer (also a friend of mine) brought Richard as a sponsor and had a booth set up at the show.  He sold every last one of the Targit Trainers he brought.  All in all….a good weekend!

Every city could use one of these!!

On a different "note" :)   , my Prolozone Therapy shot was enough of a change in my knee for the better that I am scheduling my second shot today.  I put my knee through the toughest test of all by traveling and competing.  Flying is usually the one thing that causes the MOST pain with my knee.  On this flight, I’d say the pain decreased by 50%.  That’s huge in my eyes!  We’ll see if this shot will cut out the other 50% when I fly back to Vegas next week!

First Prolozone Shot

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

Well, I just had my first Prolozone Therapy injection and my knee feels like a balloon!  It doesn’t hurt, it just feels big.  They also did some laser therapy on my scars.  I felt better about getting the shot as I walked into the clinic seeing pictures of some members of the US Ski team signed with thanks-you’s for helping their knees!  They said I can do what I normally do, nothing more today and in the next few days increase activity according to my tolerance.  I will keep posting how the next few day go…..

Has anyone heard of “Prolozone Therapy”

Friday, October 30th, 2009

I have had such pain in my knee for several years now and it feels like I have broken glass inside my knee at times.  When I hurt my back, we talked about my knee problems and the doc mentioned prolozone therapy (an injection…..no surgery) and how it stimulates new activity of fibroblasts and chondroblasts.  They use it on carpal tunnel, degenterative disease in knees and back, the list goes on and on.  I have an apointment for my first injection because right now, I can’t even straighten my leg without great pain and I have a competition in 3 weeks!  I hope this helps….and if it does, you’ll see my testimony right here on this blog!

(You can actually see how swollen my knee is in my pic on the beach!)

Hit the legs hard!

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

So excited!!  I turned it up a notch or two in the gym tonight!  My legs were actually failing to function when I got done….I fell into the lockers in the ladies room!  Really, it was WATER in my bottle…..but I was walking like I was drinking some serious "happy jiuce"!  :)   Just got done with an awesome shake with carbs and followed it up with steak that my awesome husband had ready for me when I got home!  I love him!

Sooooo busy…I shouldn’t be on the computer ;)

Monday, October 26th, 2009

I have so much to do before the end of the year….I should be getting busy!  My husband is competing next month, I am competing next month….both separate shows, and I am opening a new business in December!  So, that means next month I will be training intensely, traveling, competing, painting, ordering, Christmas shopping, oh yes-I still have my normal job as a dental assistant and as a mom taxi/tutor/stylist/ect.

I manage my time better under stressful conditions like this, so its good to load my plate from time to time.  I just never have loaded it this full before!   So….I take deep breath and dive in!!!

Feeling better <5 weeks out…

Saturday, October 17th, 2009

Knock on wood…..I have finally started to feel better.  Now its time to hit the gym and the kitchen hardcore to catch up for lost time.  I compete in less than 5 weeks and I only have a few more workouts left!  Time to get crazy!!!  I have a surge of motivation today so I’m going to use until I drop….wish me luck–I’m going in!!  :)

Darn flu bug….

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

I’m starting to get stressed….its been 5 days and I haven’t been able to work out.  Most of my days are spent sleeping, missing work, coughing, and now we can add grumpy to that.  I really need to be healthy and get my training on track.  The clock is ticking for my next competition.  I fly out 5 weeks from today.  I’m watching all my hard work (muscles) get smaller and smaller and waste away.  I try to eat right, but I just don’t have an appetite.  I really need to get back to work, too.  If you have read any of my previous posts, my boss had emergency brain surgery a few weeks ago so I’ve already had a long vactaion.  This was his first week back to work, but there is no way I’m taking this flu in to work where he can get it….no way.  He’s amazing enough to be back so soon, I’m not going to jeopardize his health or anybody elses.   I work at a dentist office….who wants to have someone working in their mouth that is coughing and hacking all over the place?  Of course we are covered, but still….I wouldn’t!

Chosen for SizeOn V2 trial

Monday, October 12th, 2009

So excited to be chosen as one of the first to try out the new Gaspari Nutrition SizeOn V2 pre-contest formula!  I will be starting a log in the forum section that tracks my before/after, diet and training protocol, strength, energy, endurance, etc.

This will be just in time as I prep for my next show in 5 1/2 weeks.

I fought it, but the virus won!

Saturday, October 10th, 2009

When I woke up this morning, I knew my daughter’s cold caught me.  I finally managed to get off the couch and get some food in my belly.  I can’t grow fabulous legs if I don’t eat the day after leg day!!  :/

I’m really concerned for my daughter right now, OK, and me.  We both have the swine flu symptoms.  I know a few people that have confirmed cases and, yes, I’ve been around them.  So….no gym for me so I don’t spread anything around.  I’m just hoping that I didn’t spread anything during my awsome leg workout yesterday.  That’s the problem….you can spread things before you even know you’re sick!  Just remember to wash and sanatize often during your visit to the gym!
