New Beginning - time to get with it…

Saturday, August 22nd, 2009

My wife and I have made a new commitment to each other and to our physical fitness… years of stress and jobs and kids and activities pulled us in different directions and nearly cost us our family, our sanity, and our physical fitness… we started working out together back in 1997 and even landed in the success stories of Muscle and Fitness in 1998… I look back at that article and how close we were and it make me SICK that we let the stupid things of this life nearly cost us EVERYTHING… we went down to the bottom with nothing but "up" to go… so here we are… starting over…

I believe in balance in life… spirt, soul and body… I don’t believe you can have a true and fulfilling life if any one of those are out of balance… I believe God gave me all I have, he is in control of all that happens… but WE have a choice of what we do with what HE has given us… Honor God, love your family and keep your mind and body in "shape"… we are a reflection of him… "average" sucks… "getting by" is sickening… and coasting through life is for those who don’t have the focus or guts to do extraordinary things… there are ways to "obsess" about anything… BUT to me, if you are going to do something, then as the Bible says (Ecclesiastes 9:10) "Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might…"  SO give it all you have, hold nothing back… it also says… (Philippians 4:13) "I can do everything through him who gives me strength"  so, to me bodybuilding/physical fitness is NOT a vanity, it is NOT getting priorities "out of order"… we should not devote our lives to any ONE thing - at the exclusion of the others - BALANCE… it is all in balance…

BUT "balance" is NOT a "code word" to say or do everything or anything in "mediocrity."  Mediocrity makes me sick… as it does God… He also said (Revelation 3:14-16) "I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth."

This is not to shove "religion" down anyone’s throat… but is more to tell others that you can serve God, believe in his strength, rely on his power, show attention to the spiritual, everlasting things of this existence we call life… AND show respect for our bodies… one final verse… I Corinthians 6:19-20 "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body."
