Workout Partner…..Friend or Foe?
I guess that this is a question that is actually a statement in itself. I have done both::worked out with a partner and without::..with varied levels of success. Some partners can actually motivate and stimulate growth while choosing the wrong partner can SEVERELY hinder growth. I think that sub conciously sooner or later you find yourself competiting with the partner rather than competing with yoruself. If you are weaker than your partner::.sometimes you push too hard and don’t train right with proper form. If you are the stronger partner:::.you don’t push yourself hard enuff::::quite a quandry:::..

You are right on that. However, I would try to just do what I can in the gym, if my friend is stronger, well he’s stronger, that’s it. Everybody is different, your friend could be stronger on biceps but with a poor back. You have strenght and weakness, and your friend too. Don’t get too competitive or it will kill all the fun of having a friend in the gym. Just do what you can, and help each others, have a good time in the gym. I guess that’s the best. I can become a Foe if you ahve a big ego and it become competitive over time. However, try to keep it like when you first trained with your friend — It was fun, you helped each others, there was no "stronger", it was just pure fun and good times. –. Like that, the relation and fun will always remain ! And if you are too competitive — just go in the gym with a new women who’s just starting to work out. The psychological advantage that you will have (you are definetly stronger), will help you to not become competitive (she’s jsuta women who work out). And, you will have a friend, and will teach her many things.
