Wow!!!!!

God is Awesome.  The Maximum Fitness  leaders: Mr. Robert Kennedy, Michael DeMedeiros, Derek Hounsell, Jerry Kindela, and assistant Michelle were awesome.  With Jason Breeze’s artistry and the keen eyes of Micheal and Derek, Obi Obidike and I had a great shoot and experience at the Robert Kennedy Publishing Headquarters.  It was great to be treated like people and not props for a particular outcome.  Furthermore, time was maximized, no pun intented, and the team had a vision.  Meeting other people around the offices that make Robert Kennedy Publishing successful was an addiditonal bonus.  What’s up Mr. Bill Geiger!!!  It was nice to see people working ourt during their breaks and truly living a healthy and fit lifestyle.  Our lunch break was great.  Kevin Detto joined the party and show his array of sports knowledge and since of humor which added to an already comical atmosphere.  I hope you all enjoy the product of ther teams hardwork and diligence when you purchase Maximum Fitness mags that feature Obi and I sometime after October.

The day before this shoot, Diana and I shot with Joel Roberts for a cover attempt for Inside Fitness.  Despite the fact that Joel thought we were downtown, twenty minutes from his house when in reality we were 40 and I paid for the cab, it was a lot of fun.  and by the way, he drove us back….lol.  Eventhough we did not plan our warddrobe, Diana and I had three outfits that worked well together.  Our chemistry was great.  Of course, she is Diana:-)  Joel was very pleased and we hope our time together will lead to a cover!!!  Thanks again Terry Frendo!!!

Finally, Thanks again Paul Dillett!!!  We need to be able to watch the show next year, pre-judging should be swim-suit………..lol  Great Show and everyone needs to be there next year!!!

The WBFF show was great!  Congratulations to my man Michael McFarlen who repeated as the WBFF Fitness Model Champion.    I took second place to a classy individual.  Mike was the defending champ and improved on his appearance from last year.  That fact was too much for me to overcome:-)  Obi, a top contender for every competition, missed the pre-judging segment but still wowed the crowd with his appearance in the swimsuit round.  I would like to thank Paul Dillet for being instrumental in me booking a second photoshoot with Maximum Fitness and putting on a great show.

I have been thinking about competitive shows and I grew a stronger appreciation for bodybuilding.com in the process.  Let me explain.  Many people post candid pics without photoshop.  You get to see there bodies in an honest light.  I think competitions should incorporate this aspect.  Personally, I am tired of people getting hyped attention for super-enhanced photos that include cuts, more abs than a person can buy, and the like.  Do not get me wrong!  Yes, I have edited shots also.  However, I also have candids and you can see that the 8-10 pack is THE TRUTH.  To make judging more objective, consistent, and reduce the star power influence I would like to see a bodypart comparison of competitiors via powerpoint, from one camera, same angles, without editing, with the same body tan….chosen by the competitors as a portion of the comp at the comp.  This would also include symmetry comparisons and an explanation of what the judges are looking for and why they select one over another.

Let me know what you think? Upgrade my idea:-)

I would also like to give Terry Frendo props for giving Diana Chaloux-Oh Yeah WBFF Figure Champion and 3rd place Fitness Model-and me a cover try with Joel Roberts.

I look forward to sharing my experiences with these photoshoots.  God is Awesome!!!

Get Ready For FAME North American Championships In Miami Oct 31, Nov 1 and Nov 2.  It is going to be a great show!!!

Surprisingly, my trip to the Los Angeles International Airport was traffic delay free.  The delay came in at Horizon Air…..wow.  It was like to line at Disney…u know when you think your close and are about to get on the ride,  you turn the corner and another leg of the line thrust you into yet another bending continuation of the line?   Got me…lol   Fortunately, I finally packed without having to check in bags.  Yes!!!  The only time estrogen gets the best of me is when I pack.  Gotta Have Options!!!!  Metrosexual? To clarify, as I have learned on the chat line, "no homo".  I fit those options into one small carry on and brought along my suit in a hanging clothing bag for an in house Universal Studios video submission for a NAS video….I hope it is accepted and I am in the full length with a lead role.  I digress!!!

While at the gate I spoke to Diana Chaloux via text message.  She gave me a grand motivational reply.  Diana is so wonderful.  The lovely Christine Killick, who I met for the first time at the FAME World Championships, also sent me a text.  She gave me a great send off as well.  Did you read the article she wrote about me for bb.com.  She is really talented and so adorable!!!  I am going to use this article as my bio on my personal training website, fitsciences.net.  And have to shout out Danielle Carrington and Ainsley McSorley who also showed me love.

Speaking of showing some love.  To be prepared for any training exercises that the bodybuilding.com crew requested of me, I was a straight homebody yesterday.  I even declined the invitiation from some gorgeous women to play volleyball.  Most mere mortals cold not say no to such beauty.  But(no pun intended), the thought of injury and not being 100% overcame my desire to get some extra cardio while playing volleyball at the Marina Del Ray with beautiful women…What the he!! is wrong with me?  Oh yeah, commitment!!!

While flying, seeing Yosemite Valley and Lake Tahoe fueled my passion for travel.  And the pics I took from the phone came out pretty decent.  Idahoooooo!!!!!  So fresh and so clean clean….I am here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The bb.com headquarters was was great. Lisa looked very good and her since of humor and poise created a wonderful chemistry between us which set the tone for a successful chat.  Please view it and your feedback will be appreciated:-)  Once the chat was completed, I was off to the gym with King Richard and Craig to film the K-Chizzle Chest/Back Gauntlet.  Boy, I need to get in better shape…lol  The gauntlet is serious!!!  I hope you get to watch this video as well and that the routine become a beneficial part of your gym regiment.  King Richard(rrrrr), not as great of a photographer as the one and only Robert Reiff, took pics and proceeded to make Craig and me laugh during he course of the day.  Learning about the growth of bodybuilding.com as we road to the warehouse was inspirational.  The work ethic of Ryan and his family is a testimony to hard work paying off.  I enjoyed receiving gifts from the warehouse.  I will wear my bodybuilding.com shirts with pride.  Thanks Melinda:-)  I got a taste of Idaho nightlife, went to Gold’s Gym the next day, and went to the mall before heading to the airport.  Idaho is a state on the rise and definately has a jewel called bodybuilding.com

Big thanks to Ryan, Will, Dave, "King" Richard, Craig my Idaho workout partner, Griff reping GA, Scott, and nnnnnatural Brandon.

Special thanks to Jeff and Mindy.  FAME is Hot!!!  I hope to see everyone at the North American Championships in Miami on Oct 31st, Nov1st and Nov. 2nd.  Go to fameworldtour.com to register.

Btw, the cubicle decor is awesome fellas!!!!!!!!

What an adventure!  To save money, a group of us decided to fly into Buffalo, rent a car, and drive to Toronto.  We partnered on hotel rooms and the like.  The plan seemed fool proof.

The unraveling began with me missing my flight and arriving in Buffalo an hour later than scheduled.  Fellow competitors, already in Buffalo, decided to rent a car and leave.  Feeling disappointed, yet understanding the low carb reaction of my associates, I went to the rental car office and I was happy that they downgraded my Tahoe reservation to a compact.  Then I received the call that led to two more hours in the car rental office.

The driver of the rental car, you know the people who left me……lol, did not have the appropriate paperwork to cross the border.  Therefore, I had to wait and see what the outcome of this debacle would be and switch my reservation once again to ensure we would have enough room for everyone.  Well, after I once again apologized for my irresponsibility regarding missing the plane(not being able to find my passport, nail specialist cutting my hand having to take extra time during my manicure…lol) and expressing how I thought they could have waited for me…..we had fun during the drive. Some of this is captured on Diana Chaloux video of the FAME WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS for BODYBUILDING.COM.

Once in Toronto, to my surprise, some people had alternative plans regarding hotel accomodations and travel while in Toronto to cut expenses for themselves.  Yes, I am serious.   I will not dwell on the particulars of this issue.  Let’s get to the next day’s action.

I was so happy that we had a full day before our competition.  Our media day was a blast as we travelled through Toronto on a sightseeing tour bus in swimwear promoting the show.  The city was buzzing!!!  Our raid of a local radio station was hilarious.

The Open/Novice show was great.  The new talent in FAME is awesome.  I always thought it would have been nice for a FAME PRO to say welcome when I won my pro card so I felt compelled to attend the show despite the fact that I was tired.  I was also able to witness what the judges were looking for since the selections were pretty consistent as to the body type and stage presentation for each catagory.

The catagories I competed in were Fitness Model and Muscle Model.  I had the distinct honor to win both of these categories at the North American Championships in Miami, November of 2007.  However, I knew World Championships would be different.  Miami had about 225 competitors and Worlds would have about 400.  Additionally, I know everyone would step their game up.  I decided that my primary focus would be Fitness Model.  Oh! You want to know what is the difference b/n the two categories.  Muscle is primary an off shoot of fitness model for bigger guys.  The way you present yourself on stage is similar with subtle but important differences.  Muscle model stage presentation should be smooth but you widen your back and flex more while apprearing to be relaxed.  Fitness model is relaxed, yet flexing the abs constantly and the legs on occasion. But, no need to show the span of the lats!

Speaking of span.  The time span of the show was long.  65 competitiors in the Masters/Seniors show led to rescheduling the evening show.  And their show was great!!!  Truly motivational!!!

At the end of the night, surprisingly not too late, I was crowned the WNSO FAME Fitness Model World Champion. Richtree restuarant was the spot with outstanding variety and fresh food.  I only cheated a little.  I still had to start my smorgasbord with a salad….lol

Oh….keep your passport in your travel bag…..lol
