I am really into the swing of things again. I feel so great and back on track. With my injury the past 3 months I was actually getting pretty down. Stephen Covey says it takes 21 times to create a habit, I am already there and it has been 10 days! Obviously the past 90 days didn’t break my dedication, although not working out weights or particulary cardio did in fact alter my appearance. My diet the past 2 weeks has been tight and clean, as well my training is back on track although not as strong of course. I haven’t had a training partner in such a long time, I surveyed the guys at work and now have found 2 of them to train with! Shift work definitely plays a role in trying to find a regular partner so I will benefit from each of them at different times. I am so happy, pleased with the changes I am already seeing, and excited to see where this journey will lead me~ Peace. J~

July 4th I judged my first WBFF competition in Calgary. It was amazing, interesting, tiring, difficult…….any many other adjectives! We had 153 Athletes competing!!!!! Amazing! The first WBFF competition in Calgary. Annette Milbers did a phenomenal job setting this up. She is amazing and had everything completely organized. She is fantastic to work with. There were 5 judges and then the head judge. I was sitting with some amazing talent. The diva fitness model category had 54 girls!! Top 10 pick was tough. Then getting to the top 5 even harder. I was very impressed with the physiques and attitudes on stage. We were comparing these models to those that grace the covers of Oxygen magazine. For those women out there wondering what a fitness model should look like, compare yourselves to that of Annette Milbers. Beautiful full muscle bellies, lean but not striated, proportion is everything, good butt (don’t let this go flat with diet!!) My top pick placed second and my second place finished 3rd so I was happy with my choices. Bikini model had another 40 girls. Very beautiful! We were looking for the Victoria secret body in this category and we found it. The girl I had chosen as my top pick won! Actually my top 3 were the top 3, so it re-affirmed how I was doing as a judge. The figure model was a smaller category and broken into age and then into height as well. I was disappointed with the overall pick for top figure, the medium height class gal should have won in my opinion, but hey, I am just a judge, what do I know?!? Eva (Skonocavo sp??) was absolutely beautiful, proportionate, amazing, incredible stage presence. I was disappointed she didn’t win.

In the mens category I was bang on with my voting!!! In each of the categories, both bodybuilding and fitness model. Probably because it was a much smaller category with very little in the number of athletes competiting. Disappointing, I wish there were more to stare at….opps I mean judge! LOL! The men were amazing. I loved watching the routines. The guy who won overall was fabulous in his physique.

Amazing and an incredible feet for all of these athletes! Very impressive and kudos to all the hours of dieting, grocery shopping, planning and most importantly the hours that went into the training. Having competed before, I know the dedication this sport takes and no matter where any of the athletes placed, well done and deserving to all of them for getting on stage! Peace. J~

I don’t look too striated or drawn out. I can’t wait to post some of these photos! Peace. J~

So six weeks out and a tweek to the diet and cardio routine. The last 4 months have been great for stabilizing my bodyfat and increasing my training. Adding in plyometrics and going hard on legs have really improved my tone and size in my legs. I also gained a half inch in my biceps when I flex! The next six weeks I am changing my diet again as I prep for a photo shoot. Lowering the carbs, increasing cardio a bit and continuing to focus on my training. My focus has been great the last few months and this is where the money is, this is where it counts, the last few weeks. I feel extremely positive and actually excited to see the results. Hopefully I will get to post some photos that really capture what I believe I have been able to accomplish. It’s my story……Peace. J~

I had an amazing week and weekend off! After the competition last weekend I needed some downtime. I still continued to do 40 min. of cardio every day, but took time off weight training and strict dieting. It felt so good to eat fresh fruit. I will add that once a day back into my diet. This past weekend I partook in the red stuff (some great cab and shiraz from Australia, McLaren vale area!) my fav way to relax and enjoy life. Tomorrow it is back to training and eating clean. If I choose to compete again in March, I will begin to diet in December. It is time to take a break and enjoy life at a slower pace. I have 1 university course to finish off (done in December!!!!!) and finishing off my train the trainer course from last week to certify in application of a leadership course. I am so excited to see the end in site. I think in January I will take some time off from school (next will be my Masters degree) and just focus on me for a bit! Peace.

I competed yesterday and came in 5th place in the Fitness model open tall class. I am very proud of this as there were 18 competitors and most were much younger than me. Annette Milbers (judge) approach me after the competition and said I place top 1-2 in the theme wear round! She also said I have the whole package; posing, feminine, muscle balance, leanness, and would not be able to tell me anything to improve upon. WOW! Annette said the number 1-5 didn’t represent anything and that because I was competing against women almost half my age or 15 years younger that I shouldn’t even care about where I placed in the top five. This made the whole competition worthwhile for me. I am not sure where I am going to go with the whole fitness thing in the future, but I am very proud of what I accomplished this weekend! Peace. J~

I can’t wait. Only 3 more days of deplete and its showtime! I am looking forward to the pre-stage pump up with peanut butter and jam rice cake and weights (maybe a little red wine too). How pathetic is that?!? LOL! I am looking forward to this being over. I want to get back to a normal routine of yoga, weights and cardio. The last few weeks of 4:30am cardio I am tired of. I want to do my own thing and my own training. I do look forward as well to my Heathy Nutrition Plan from my nutritionist. Eat clean, feel fabulous, look fantastic and live healthy. I haven’t recorded much of my workouts the last 2 weeks. Things have been so hectic at work, add the bonus of going to school, being a mom….what the heck was I thinking?!?!? The last few days of not doing any workout and just grabbing some zzzz’s in the tanning bed have been nice. I am looking forward to cheering on my 2 freinds who signed up for this journey with me (Princess123 and Princesspower14) I am actually more excited for the 2 of them then for myself. I haven’t seen either of them in a couple of weeks, I am sure they look amazingly beautiful. I can’t wait to take photos of them….ahhhh bring the camera backstage! Peace.

I went to see my nutritionist today and I am so pleased! I am at 11.2% bodyfat, I haven’t been tested since April from my last competition and I am totally happy with the results. I was holding at 161 lbs for the past 5 weeks and feeling frustrated. From the same time frame in my last diet down, it looks as though I have gained 4 lbs of lean body mass!!! Yipee! This is me jumping for joy. He was pretty impressed and figured the German Volume training definately worked for me. My fat loss is right on track and my eating is perfect. It was so good to check in. I decided to do this diet on my own, I was curious to see if I could maintain the diet without checking in with him every 2 weeks. So far, I have succeeded! I may see him 2 weeks before the competition just to dial in my last days of depletion etc. As for now, tonight is cheat night and I can do it with a clear head! Here’s hoping to keep the newly developed muscle while I complete the last 6 weeks of the depletion phase! Peace. J~ PS. I also did some progress pics today, I will post those later. Things are rock on!

Well, here it is, week 10 of my 18 week competition diet down, things are going ok and I just thought it was about time to put pen to paper (so to speak) and put things in perspective for myself. Afterall, isn’t that what this is all about? My personal journey, to be MY best, compete against myself and be the best that I can be? I have just under 8 weeks to go, amazing, it has just flown by! I have decided that summertime is the hardest time to diet! There is no going to outdoor patios, the temptations are just too great. I miss my glass of Australian Shiraz (yup my nightly tradition in the summer) and of course along with that, some tasty appy’s! But is it all for not? I do feel good about how I look and feel right now, actually I am very proud of how lean my body is and the way my clothes fit. Ok, maybe just a little loose around the cabboose! LOL! My legs feel strong (just finished a killer leg workout) my arms, back, chest all looking lean. Hey, if it was easy, everyone would be fit. But to be uberfit or an ubergirl it takes dedication, time, patience, determination and of course support. I just want to thank my friends who encourage me and send me the good vibes, my family who loves me even when I hit those lovely mood swings (I am really trying hard and the Holy Basil by New chapter is definately my saving grace!) I know I am a focused individual who when I have my mind set, watch out. But like any other human, I have weaknesses, I sometimes stumble, but it is getting back up again and continuing. Trust me, the fight is on and I will win. After all, I am only competing against myself. Saturday is my first bodyfat test since the day before my last competition, I am dying to know where I am at right now. But as I slide my hand over my abs, I really know that I have nothing to worry about, I am on track! Peace. J~
