January 5th Journal entry

Monday, January 5th, 2009

Attacked today with a vengeance.  Up at 5 am had my coffee and plain oatmeal and 3 boiled egg whites.  Had my BSN cell mass. Hit the gym and got in a 90 minute swim and soaked my sore shoulder in the hot tub.

Midmorning- 3 more boiled egg whites and a Cytosport muscle milk shake. Two additional 12-ounce glasses of water BCAA’s and a multi vitamin..

Lunch- chicken breast with green beans. 3 boiled egg whites and two 12-ounce glasses of water.

Mid afternoon snack 30 peanuts, 3 boiled egg whites. A can of albacore tuna with a little bit of fat free mayo.   Two 12-ounce glasses of water

Dinner- chicken breast with ¼ cup peas.  2 boiled egg whites, 12 ounces diet Iced tea, two additional 12-ounce glasses of water.

Pre Hit Training drink- BSN N.O. Explode mixed in 12 ounces of water.  Two additional 12-ounce glasses of water.

Off to the gym again.  Did 90 minutes of HIT cycling followed by 30 minutes ab work. Drank 40 ounces of water. The gym was completely packed! I have never seen the gym filled with so many people.  A lot of resolutions without a doubt.

Arrived home chilled out and had a Cytosport cytogainer shake.  570 calories and 54 grams protein.  Since I swam this morning and did 90 minutes back to back hit cycling. I wanted the nutrients in the cytogainer to refuel my muscles.

Got weighed at the gym- down another pound (178 now) with 17% body fat.

8 pounds from my goal.

My first post for 2009

Friday, January 2nd, 2009

Even though 2008 was a great year for me, I didn’t make a New Years resolution this year because I’m still sticking to the one that I made last year. However I have a few goals.  I want to drop the last 9 pounds by the end of the month and am hoping to hit my goal weight of 170 pounds.  The five HIT cycle classes each week that I am planning to do should take care of that.  I want to get my body fat down that’s the tough one. It is doable but not impossible and is dependent on diet that I have stuck to faithfully. I have been in a perpetual cut mode diet and results come slow but it’s working.

I have finally resigned to the fact that I need to see a doctor for my shoulder. This has gone on too long and has not gotten any better. My stubbornness and strong will power convinced me that it would get better with time like my knee did but it hasn’t.  What stopped me from having my shoulder looked at is fear and denial. I started to replay those old tapes in my mind of what I went through when I broke my back and I don’t want to go through something like that again ever.  This is more than a strain with my shoulder- I realize that now.  My problem is that I don’t want to stop and I don’t want to be told that I have to stop even temporarily.

Sure I can do lots of other things, my cardio, legs and abs but the thought of not being able to work my chest shoulders and arms for a while bothers me.  I don’t like limiting factors but these things come with the territory.  I’ve had my ups and downs in the past year during my 91-pound weight loss and will just calk this up to my ongoing journey with a positive attitude and continue to go with the punches.
