Body For Life- Week 2

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

This is the beginning of my second week on the Body For life Program. I had a long workweek but did not lose focus.  Worked a 12 hour day but still got in a my workout afterwards. This is what I need to do in order to get the results that I want.

During this time, I have lifted more weight than I’ve ever lifted before and I know that this is going to work for me because I am going to MAKE IT WORK FOR ME. . I was skeptical at first because cardio is done every other day but with greater intensity.  The new supplements that I am taking (NO EXPLODE, CELLMASS and MUSCLE MILK) are a big help. My weight loss has accelerated even with a cheat day.  I dropped another 3 pounds in only a few days and am down to 194 pounds.

I really need to get toned and drop more body fat.  I am working hard at achieving those goals. I am literally half the person I was 8 months ago when I started all of this at 270 pounds.

It can only get better from here.

Each day is a victory!

I’m on my 3rd belt and need to buy another one

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

Since December 14, 2007 Ive dropped 72 pounds.

I held onto a pair of 34 regular cut  jeans and left the belt on them in the hope that one day that I could wear them again.

I gave them a try.  They fit great but the belt that is on them is too big and I ran out of holes in it.

Gonna reward myself with another belt.

Here is my advice to those out there who are losing weight and wasting money buying new smaller clothes that they have to give up as they continue to lose weight.

Check out your local thrift stores.  Saved me a fortune in buying new clothes and I get the top makes such as Ralph Loren, Eddie Bauer, Armani, Pierre Cardin, Dockers…etc.

With our current ecomomy, the popularity in thrift store shopping has increased to over 30%.

I also got a lot of other cool stuff such as the AB roller.  At first it looked like a joke but it works great.

I also picked up a pair of solid metal 25 lb dumb bells for home use for only 5 bucks!

Check out your local thrift stores.

They are definately worth a look.

Bam! I broke the 200 pound mark!

Saturday, August 16th, 2008

For the first time in 19 months,  I now weigh under 200 pounds.

I missed the gym for an entire week because of a wicked sinus and ear infection but I stuck to my diet and it paid off.

Its hard to believe that 8 months ago I tipped the scale at 270.4 pounds.  Everything that I have put into this has been worth it and it only makes me want to do better and achieve more.  I still have a way to go but looking at 198 on the scale is a lot better than looking at 200.

I am working hard to get my bodyfat down and to get more toned.  The bulking up will come later.

Each day is a victory!

Back on Track

Saturday, August 16th, 2008

Sinus and ear infection almost over - am feeling about 90% better.

Did a full upper body workout last nite and after a week away from the gym it was as though I was starting all over.  Afterwards, it felt great to be back to be doing something that I love to do and need to do.  Last week was a long haul working 12 days in a row and feeling like crap.  Felt good to work off all that stress. Good to have some time for myself also and get grounded.

Cooked 14 meals for the week ahead and boiled 6 dozen eggs.  I"m ready.

Gonna try a few new suppements: No explode and Call mass. Hopefully they will give me the muscle mass that I want.

Today intense cardio and some core training.

Feels great to be back into the swing of things.  My next goal is to drop 30 more pounds, get toned and build up.

 I’m gonna do it.

Setback

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

Got off to a great start last week with the Body For Life program. Last Friday, I came down with really bad sinus and ear infection- tried to do cardio and lift but it just made me feel worse. Sweated like a pig and then puked.

Today feeling only about 60% better but have stuck to my diet throughout the ordeal.  Am hungry for the gym again. My day isn’t complete without it. I"m gonna give this a few more days to work its way out and then its back to full throttle.

I have 30 more pounds that I want to drop and then 20 pounds of muscle to put on.

I"m gonna do it.

No Pizza for me! No Thank you!

Friday, August 8th, 2008

Started the Body For Life program this week. It is very different than my usual routine and weight loss program of the past 8 months.  With this program I use increasing weight with decreasing reps, upper body on one day then a cardio only day followed by lower body on the next. Seems good and structured. Diet plan seems ok also. I can even eat a baked potato and wheat bread.  Haven’t had either of those in months. Dont think I want them anyway.

Since I am only 5/9 and stocky, I still have to lose 30 and get down to 170 before obtaining the results that I want to achieve.  A lot of people my height have the muscles that they want and they weigh between 170 and 190. Thats a good guideline for me to follow.

My weight loss has slowed down.  I am not losing 2-3 pounds each week as I did in the past- thats why I changed my workout program.  I want to lose more bodyfat and build muscle before the changes I want can be seen.

Since starting BFL I do feel a difference but I dont think that I am doing enough.  I am following it to the letter and may incorporate my cardio into it every day instead of every other day.

I am not looking for a fast and easy solution.  I gained this weight one pound at a time and I will lose this weight one pound at a time.  Good things take time and I am learning to be patient.  I am a hell of a lot better off than I was 8 months ago, and in 3 months I will be better off then I am today- it just takes time and effort.

Today I am off from work after a 12 day stretch.  Actually got 8 hours sleep and am dragging from a killer leg workout last nite. This is my only day off until next week. I am glad that I am off because they are having a big pizza party at work today. I probably wouldnt have had any but Its tough to sit there and eat boiled chicken breast, egg whites and broccolli when surrounded by the 20 pizzas that were ordered from Dominos.  The aroma alone from all of those pizzas would have been unbearable. LOL

Intense cardio and Weigh day today.  I hope that the numbers are good if not- so what!  tomorow is another day.

Will give this program a shot for a few weeks.

 Wish me luck!

Taking this into a New Direction

Tuesday, August 5th, 2008

Well, I am down 70 pounds with more to go- hit my 200 pound mark.

People who I haven’t seen in a while are shocked when they see me and they tell me that they barely recognized me.  This is something that I have to get used to but it feels great!  I feel like a new and different person.  One of the trainers at Ballys told me that I look like a different human being from when I first started working out there back in December.

At this stage of achieving my fitness goals, I decided to break from my routine that I have used for the past 8 months and give the Body For life Program a try.

Seems like a reasonable program and many have had success with it.  I will follow this plan to the letter for 2 weeks and see how it works out. There are foods in this plan (Baked potato, wheat bread)  that I have not had in 8 months.  The program does not require me to do cardio each day and that is the biggest change for me to get used to.  I am miserable without my cardio each day.   This will be a drastic but hopefully good change.

My next goal is to lose another 30 pounds and put on 20 pounds of muscle.

One way or another I am going to achieve my goals.  I can’t wait for the future.
