Major Milestone- Down 70 pounds!

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

This has been a 7 month journey so far but a great one.  I started all of this on December 14th 2007 at 270 pounds.  On todays weigh in I am happy to report that I have lost 70 pounds.

Seeing that 200 pound mark on the scale was awesome. The last time I weighed 200 pounds was 18 months ago.  Its great to have those double zeros back again.

Everything that I am putting into it is paying off. I feel great.

My next goal is to lose another 10 pounds by the end of August.

It can only get better from here.

I"m gonna do it!

Cardio withdrawal and Bad mood

Monday, July 21st, 2008

Last Week, I injured my knee on my last set lifting over 500 pounds on the 45 degree leg press.  Went to the doctor and the x ray showed no damage.  Had to give it 5 days to recover.  Pain is gone and no need to get an MRI on it.

I have been in a really rotten mood ever since because I missed my cardio and had to rest my knee. Time is wasting and I have more weight that I need and want to lose.  I was hoping to hit the 70 pound weight loss mark by July 4th and am only 4 pounds away from it.  Having to stop my cardio for a while was really tough.

Since I could not work my legs, I took it out on my upper body and increased the weights and did more sets. Did killer ab workouts, core training and stuck to my diet.

I am miserable without my cardio.  It is like a drug with me. It is something that I have to do each day.  I love the rush that I get from it and I work off all of the daily stress from it and sleep great. Cardio is what makes me lose the weight.

Tonite I will get back into it slowly and can’t wait but am being cautious about my knee.

Hopefully by the end of this week I will be into it 100% and hit my 70 pound weight loss mark.

Almost there

I worked really hard for 2 weeks, stuck to my diet, skipped my cheat days and did my cardio twice each day - only lost a pound.  Took time to rethink, adjust and modify my workout routine. I stopped taking the whey protein and creatine.

I continued with my workout routine and treated myself to 2 cheat days.

Day 1- I had 2 giant slices of cheese steak pizza.

Day 2- Two double cheeseburgers, a large order of fries and a pint of ice cream.

Then it was back to business with my regular diet and my new workout and core training routine.

2 days later guess what happened?

BAM!

I dropped 2 more pounds!

Now I am down 66 pounds!

Now I am only 4 pounds away from losing 70 pounds.

4 pounds away from seeing 200 on the scale.

Haven’t seen 200 on the scale in over a year and a half.

Had to buy more new clothes- awesome!.

Blue/green veins now pop out in my biceps and pecs- freaky but cool.

I can’t wait to see those double zeros on that scale.

The 200 pound goal is within my reach and beyond.

I’m gonna make it happen.

Just a matter of time

I made it through a busy work week and the holidays.  Did my lifting and cardio and stuck to my diet.  Only lost 1 pound in a 2-week period. I blame that on the creatine and whey protein that I was taking.  But on the upside, my new 36 waist jeans got too big on me.  Maybe the conversion to muscle is actually and finally happening- I can certainly see and feel the difference.

I had to get rid of 4 huge bags of clothes that were way too big on me- donated them to charity.

I am impatient.  I want my results NOW.  I am staying committed and putting in the effort. I have hit plateaus before but not for this long.  I make myself discouraged because I demand a lot of myself and I become my own worst enemy. Maybe that’s a good thing.  Maybe without it, I wouldn’t have gotten this far.

Time to get grounded and re-think things. I also prayed on it for a little divine intervention and I got an answer.  I met a wonderful lady at work.  Turns out that she is a former bodybuilder and trainer.  She is going to give me a diet and exercise plan for putting on muscle once I have hit my weight loss goal.

This week, I am going to change my lifting and cardio routine and shock my body into a new adaptation. I am only 6 pounds away from my next weight loss goal to get down to 200 pounds and I know I will get there.

Just a matter of time.
