I have been on vacation for the last week and I have to say, I am pretty proud of my behavior during the trip. First of all, it was a 14 hour road trip in the minivan with all the kids and my husband. Usually, I would enjoy bags of potato chips, candy, sodas and fast food, but this time-I was GOOD. I drank plenty of water and had some healthy snacks packed for the road. Once in San Antonio, we endured 100 degree heat and I thought that would be my excuse to not exercise, but I actually did some cardio on the Ancient Nordic Track my father-in-law keeps in his garage and I also went running outside to enjoy the sun. The absolute worst thing I ate during my trip would be the small slice of Italian Cake that we had for dessert one night after dinner. I kept my portions at dinner and lunches in check and I snacked healthily. We did tons of walking and sweating every day since we visited Sea World and the San Antonio Zoo. This may not sound like a lot, but I know how I used to act on vacation and I would have to say, I feel very good about the changes I am implementing.

I really couldn’t figure out why I wasn’t seeing some results sooner. I have to admit I have cut down on the crap I eat, but I definitely haven’t eliminated it. I would always find an excuse to eat this or drink that. Honestly, I haven’t felt like myself in over 7 years! Whenever I see a picture of myself, I just cringe. Not that I am fat and obese, but I know I am not healthy and I think it reflects in my personality. So, my new approach is to try and workout at least three days a week, more would be better, but focus on my eating habits–not diet–plain food eating habits. I guess I’ll post a full picture too…even though I am dreading it. But, I need to see the transformation over time. Off to the store to buy tuna packs!

Earlier today, my husband and I called the babysitter and we were able to do a full body workout together at 24 Hour Fitness. We had a workout that lasted almost 2 hours! It felt great getting in there together. When I was entering in my stats for each set, I realize I was taking it way too easy. So, I am looking forward to pushing myself even harder the next time I lift. Also, just before I left, I signed myself up for two 60 minute spin classes on Tuesday and Thursday this next week. But get this–they are scheduled at 5:30am! OMG! What was I thinking? I’ll post another blog to let you know if I survived.

I’ve been working out, but haven’t really been giving it 100%. I’m ready to really transform my diet. That’s what I struggle with the most. I guess I am not sure if I can stick to chicken and tuna alone. But, I’m willing to make a change one week at a time. I’ll post again next Saturday and let you know how it goes and how I feel. There were a lot of other members out there who inspired me tonight. They were other women with young children who have all the same setbacks I do. So, if they can do it, I don’t see why I couldn’t too.
