Shed the fat first than build that muscles

July 21, 2007

I am learning quick and I learned that people who is fat should not weight train until they loose that fat first.  Because when you weight train to build muscles you need to feed the muscules with good protein and quality nutrients.   If you have fat and start weight lifting (which is what everyone does) its going to be a struggle to gain muscles.  Because you will probably eat more to feed your muscles, not to mention you are still feeding your fat.   I started my weight lost by cutting back what I ate for atleast 3 weeks.  I started to drink alot of water and doing cardio to strenghten my heart.  My cardio started with only simple 25mph walks on the treadmill for 20 minutes.  Then each week I speed up… until I could actually run for 20 minutes without stopping.   It became easier to run when you listen to some 80’s dance music, so I recommend some 80 disco mixes and a cheap mp3 player.   My wife and I didnt care about meal portions until we started the Nutrisystem Meal diet for a month and we did loose 10lb each easily and without getting hungry.  The portions are unbelievably small (270 calories) and the first 3 days of it I was mentally (hungry) could not believe that is all I have to eat.   Anyway, we both stayed with it until the end of the month and realized major weight loss of 10lbs for my wife and over 16lbs for me.  My wife was getting abit tired of "sealed up" old food for dieting.  After learning about what made NutriSystem work we started our own quest to make our own fresh food with similar "Glysimic values, calories, fats, proteins" So she starting cooking up fresh foods mainly made of steam vegtables, tofu, salmon, chicken, etc.   Using less oil and serving smaller portions.  Ah  better!    Its been 2 month since I saw my twin brother who didnt do any dieting but said he is working out every day with weights.  He is still 168lbs looks the same round person and I am 145lbs. slimmer and I still have a small tummy fat left so I going to drop my weight down to 140 or 135 until all my fat is gone and start doing the major muscle building programs.   Right now since I dropped down from 170lb to 145lb I am starting to weight train since I know muscles will help me burn fat and some how it is easier to weight train since I dont have to lug my old heavy body around to do weights.   And I see so many fat guys in the gym hitting the iron huffinng and puffing…  I think they will get a heart attack.  So this blog I am writing down was my way of entering into weight loss and soon my journey to get ripped.  PS my wife dont want me to have that muscle monster look, so I will try to keep my muscle development to more toned sculpture look.

The mind and body reset

July 19, 2007

For the past 2 1/2 months my wife and I have not only started to lose weight by eating less. We were also join the local atheltic  club (Kauai Atheltic Club) and starting just enjoying the pool, jacuzzi, and steam bath.   I started on the treadmill and did some 30 minutes of running on Mon, Wed, Fri.   Eating freash vegtables and fish or chicken.   Yuko wanted to try Yoga and it was a challenge since we were both out of shape. Yoga is on Monday and Wednesday and its about an hour long. I can remember when I first started I couldnt bend to touch my toes, and stand on one leg.  But after 2 months I can really feel that I can feel my muscles getting stronger with each of the poses and my focus on breathing was more and more relaxing and my circulation was improving.  Today, I feel wonderful everyday.  I can think clearer and work faster.  Seems like my body is sensing more of the muscles.  I actually feel stronger and healthier.  I dont know but now after 6 days of my light weight training I feel more focused when I do exercises.  Somehow I Yoga has helped me reset my mind to focus on my body and its movements.  My sensation of feeling my body more makes me feel good and that is whats motivates me to do more work on body building.  I feel happy that my wife started me to do Yoga before I started weight training. PS: our sxlife is also magnified. ;)

Learning about body building everyday.

July 16, 2007

Last night I was cruzing on the BB website to learn more about weight training.  Dang… there is so much to learn!   I am very grateful that I have found this website to begin my physical transformation.   I really like everything about this site… its very functional and have so much resources to get me better to understand about nutrition and body building.   So I going to start learning everything so I dont get to trapped in the up and DOWNs of weight loss, to weight gain, to more muscles to losing muscles, energy suppliments and foods.

So today I printed out my first body building worksheet and do a Full Body workout.  I want to burn off the several inches of my tummy flabs so I can finally get my abs!  I thank everyone who has posted their awesome pictures to show what is possible and I really think those sharing of pictures is what motivates me to a better healtier lifestyle… Mahalo!

Learning about nutrition and food

July 13, 2007

For about 3 months both my wife and I were on a strict low carbs, low fat, low calories, and small portion diet. The first week we both did some cleansing by taking some cleansing pills and drank alot of water.  According to the cleansing instructions we had to start drinking full 8 glasses of water per day. No food for 24 hours and full 8 hours of sleep.  Being computer users we both usually late night sleepers normally go to bed about 1:30am so we dont get good night sleeps.

Since the cleansing our weight both dropped dramatically about 5 pounds each for the first week.  We are now eating only bran and whole wheat cereal and skim milk for breakfast, and green salads and maybe some tuna for lunch, and dinner some fish, no meats, we actually started some south beach diet dinners that are total of 270 calories each.  Our daily in take of food went from our normal 3000 calories to just about 900 calories per day.  We didnt do any exercise since we didnt want to interrupt our regular work schedules and lifestyle.   About 3 weeks later we lost another 5lb and this time we both joined the local Athletics club basically Yuko likes the Spa treatment like the steam bath and swimming pool.  I wanted to get more physical so I started my cardio exercise on the treadmill.

Welcome!

July 13, 2007

Welcome to the Bodybuilding.com BodyBlogs.  This is my personal site to track my goals of transforming myself to have a more healthy, stronger and muscular shape.  Being a full time computer tech and system administrator there is hardly enough time of the day to exercise.  For many years I have been overweight and feeling unhealthy and my personal lifestyle was getting a bit old.   What pushed me even more to make a change in my health and body was  my wife and I 200 trip to Moorea, Tahiti.  In 2002 my wife and I had our honeymoon in Bora Bora, Tahiti and since then we fell in love with its beauty and romantic allure.  But our last trip in 2006 we both were about 20lb overweight and felt so uncomfortable with our we look we didn’t event take too much pictures. So, we told ourselves that we are going to be fit and sexy for our next year trip.  So, we started our dieting in April and as of June we both lost 20lbs each.   I going from 168 to 148.  And Yuko from size 8 to a size 2 (115lbs)  her goal is to to be about 110 by vacation day in October 2008.   So  we got about 2.5 months to work it out to loose and tone up.
