TGIF - so excited to start EFDP tomorrow!!

May 8, 2009

I just signed up for team poynter with Stevep78 after seeing all the amazing results from Charlotte and Heather on the Extreme Fat Destruction Workout plan.  I am going to take my before pics tonight.  I am so looking forward to tomorrow morning… I am ready to work really hard to transform my body!!  Can’t wait! :)    I am going to get my body fat composition done on the 13th so it will be nice to have a benchmark on how hard I have to work to achieve my personal best. :)

Put away my ice skates and dust off the roller blades :)

April 25, 2009

Well I finally got my wish! It was 22 degrees here today and spent the day outside…I may have overdid it a bit with the skating, but I feel like I really pushed myself on the cardio side today and definitely got my dose of vitamin D!  I think every last speck of snow is gone and fingers crossed that that is the end of winter :)   I really want to try some fun sports this summer: water skiing and maybe even scuba diving.  Who knows, maybe even paintballing, I heard that can be very extreme and a lot of fun.  Took the day off from weights to rest my sore muscles.   Bought some epson salts tonight to take a long hot soak in the bath to restore my body.  It is funny the harder I work the harder I want to push myself…exercise is so addictive!! :)

Back in Canada after a fix of hot weather!

April 24, 2009

I am back after another fantastic vacation down south. Funny that people ask me what I do when I am on vacation…and I respond with "exercise". Don’t you ever relax they ask me…and I say..I have been cooped up inside all winter, all I want to do is be outdoors and swim, walk and bike. I just can’t get enough. Worked really hard at the gym while I was away too…One day I could hardly move my calves…I didn’t think I would be able to walk for even 5 minutes but after a good stretch it improved.  I am so re-energized; almost a feeling of spending the day at the spa.  I don’t know what it is but sunshine and exercise really make me feel amazing!  I can’t get enough of it.  Summer, please come quickly!! :)

Picture perfect sunshine…well not yet…hopefully tomorrow!

April 14, 2009

Well I arrived in Florida this afternoon; what a terrible scary flight!  Thunder storms and heavy winds. I honestly thought I was going to be part of the series Lost as the plane was very turbulent and had 1000ft drops from the airpockets. I am not much for rollercoasters but it really felt like I was on one for the morning..  Thankfully I am here now visiting my parents, and the rest of the week is forecasting 86+ and sunshine. Looking forward to a day full or outdoor activites and a trip to the gym…today was a write off.  But had a fantastic supper at Sweet Tomatoes…I love that place so much and can’t get enough of it.

Back in the sunshine I go…yippee!

April 13, 2009

Okay, spur of the moment but just nabbed an $11 flight back to sunny Florida for another week of vacation in the beautiful sunshine.  I know I just got back from there after 3 wonderful weeks, but it is still snowing in my home town and I missed the heat and the outdoor activities. This time tomorrow I will be biking, swimming and walking on the beach.  Can’t wait, I find I am much more active when I can actually do my cardio outdoors.  I am always a planner, so I am proud of myself doing a spontaneous thing like booking a trip, 24 hours before the flight leaves.  Back to sunny florida I come!! :)

Easter…sans chocolat!

April 10, 2009

Well I must say, sugar has always been my weakness at Easter, Christmas, Halloween, Valentines (all the major holidays) but for some reason I don’t even crave sugar anymore. I have been eating clean for over a year but whenever I saw a cupcake with tons of colourful icing I could not stop myself…  even a few months ago, I would dream about cupcakes.

I guess what they say is true about artificial sweetners like splenda…since I switched from splenda to stevia and gave up diet gingerale I haven’t had a craving since or a cheat day.  I just haven’t felt like it at all.

If I want something sweet I have a bowl of grapes…I think this Easter is going to be so easy not to have chocolate as I just don’t even remember the taste of it.  I am not a person who usually has willpower but not craving sugar is half the battle :)

Happy Easter Everyone!

Is it okay to always be sore…or just until you reach your goals…?

April 6, 2009

Great workout today, really starting to feel a difference in my strength and my muscles feel like they are constantly flexed. I am meeting with a trainer in the morning to reevaluate my goals…I am getting to the point where I don’t know if I am aiming for curvy/muscle or lean/muscle body shape… I am so focused on my eating plan that I am really going to try to ramp up the cardio and keep building muscle in the gym. Since I started lifting weights back in May, I continuously am sore…every day after I workout. The trainer that I met with months ago said I will always be sore, and “if I am not sore increase the weight until I am sore again…if I am not sore, I am not working hard enough.” Now I understand that concept, as much as it feels great to know I worked hard based on the pain I feel daily…however just a question… will I always be sore? Or will I get to where I am satisfied with my progress and will only want to maintain…will I still be sore then..? I am going to try to do more yoga and pilates to stretch out my muscles as they constantly feel flexed and tight…

Wish the sun would come out..it really increases my energy and mood! Looking forward to the first day I can rollerblade this spring :)

Great day for my diet; no cravings and was constantly full:

Breakfast: Rice dream and soy protein powder Kashi cereal Banana

Snack: Apple with organic peanut butter

Lunch: Tofu sandwich on ezekiel bread Pear Herbal tea

Snack: Soy yogurt with 10 blackberries

Supper: Spinach salad with tons and veggies, balsamic vinegar and virgin olive oil Avocado

Snack:Ryza and soy protein powder

For all you meat lovers…this recipe will make you want to go vegan! :)

April 2, 2009

I know the title sounds too good to be true..but you have to try this sandwich. As I recently made the switch to vegan life I am looking for recipes that are healthy but also taste great (not like cardboard).  I just tried this recipe for the first time tonight and I am in love! :)   Give it a try; you will not be disappointed.  Let me know what you think.. :)

Delicious 2 minute tofu sandwich:
¼ block 4 oz firm tofu (organic if possible)
½ tbsp.  veganaise (or light mayo if you are not vegan)
1-2 tsp. organic dijon mustard
Spike seasoning (or sea salt and fresh ground pepper)
Mash tofu, vega (mayo) & mustard
Spread over baby spinach (or salad greens) on Ezekiel bread
Enjoy! :)

Supplements…hmmmm…where do I start?

April 2, 2009

Okay I am new to the supplement subject,… so I am feeling great everyday…I exercise, strength train, eat clean, and take a multivitamin, as well as E, C, Calcium, Folic Acid and D.  I have since read that other great supplements are: MSM, Omega 3, creatine, magnesium, B, spirulina, and wheat grass.

Okay, that sounds like I would be taking pills all day long..if I take everything above would that be too much? If not, should I take half in the morning, half at night? Or distribute throughout the day?  Any recommendations would be very much appreciated…thanks so much :)   I have heard that you can overload on vitamins…so I just thought I would ask to make sure.

Thanks and have a great night!

Brrrr…summer hurry up…I miss you!!

March 30, 2009

Well, yesterday was a warmish spring day..and surprise today had tons of snow… looking forward to my outdoor cardio this summer and it won’t come soon enough. I miss the beach and the outdoor trails.  Had a good workout today: shoulders, back, chest and abs..haven’t done this workout in a few days as my neck/shoulders were really tense. Feels better after a good hard workout. I really should invest in a pair of snowshoes as it appears winter is going to be here for awhile!  Feel great (besides my neck), tons of energy…eating clean..it has been a pretty good week overall.  :)

one more week until status updates!
