Day 8 - How the first week went
Well I finally made it through one week of this crazy diet and I must say the results were amazing. I weighed in this morning at 239 lbs, 11 pounds less than a week ago. I am not stupid and know that this isn’t all fat, in fact most of it isn’t. However it still feels really good to see that number go down.
Today I had a cheat day. It’s been pretty bad to be honest. I had a footlong Subway sub and a Chinese sesame chicken lunch, topped off with a big candy bar. I think that’s it for the day though and although that will set back some of my progress for a bit, it won’t stop me from reaching my goal. I think it’s better to cheat when you need to in order to stay sane than to absolutely snap and quit the diet altogether. Tomorrow I start back on keto and I think I can lose another 5 pounds by next week.
Hope you all got one step closer to your goals this past week and be good to yourselves.

Hi there,
I’m glad to hear that.
Keep in mind that during the first week, part of the weight you lost is water weight. This is because glucose is stored with water in your muscles. So as you burnt all the glucose you have stored to enter ketosis, your body will get rid of that extra water.
While it doesn’t account for your awesome 11lbs lost (congrats on that), it means two things:
1. When you get on carbs again (such as on cheat days), you body will repack water and you’ll probably notice a weight gain the next day. So don’t take this as an immediate set back, as the water and its weight will clear shortly when you get back on keto.
2. Your weight loss during the next weeks will be slower, but you’ll loose more fat. I think that your 5lbs is realistic if you stay consistent and monitor your caloric intake.
I find that the first cheat days are tough to manage. It personally takes me about 1-2 weeks to get used to a week long of cravings without going crazy on my cheat day. So I think you did pretty well for a first week.
The toughest week is behind you already, so don’t give up and keep your goals in sight.
Cheers,
T
