New equipment

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

The elbow has been a rollercoaster ride. Somedays up and some days not so up. Last week I could overhead press 185, but yesterday was painful to unrack 160. The overall trend is still favoring improvement. Just keep chugging along. That rest for the entire body in the form of trapping and deer hunting is quickly approaching. December should see some great workout time and maybe even get back to the 5×5.
I`ve been buzzing the gym owners` ears about a good bar. They told me its now on its way! A good "meat grinder." Deep, sharp knurling. All the others are older and worn down. Cant wait to break it in on some heavy deads!

Here we go again

When I was stationed in Hawaii, I was to the point where there were people trying to talk me into competing in both powerlifting and bodybuilding. I always made excuses for myself as to why I thought I was not ready. I never did compete and now wish I would have. (especially powerlifting)
Today at the gym, a personal trainer asked if had given much thought to a natural bb comp. in April in Madison. I guess its about time I stop with the excuses about why I shouldnt. I told him I would think about it. My (addiction) is gaining mass. I know that once the cutting phase begins, I will likely lose, to one extent or another, some mass. That will hurt mentally.

Yea, I know, another excuse.

Wishy washy weight

Got the bad habit of jumping on the scale almost every visit to the gym. Not a good habit, but interesting none the less. Just cant figure out the messages the scale sends me. My weight was rising steadily during the 5×5 program. Since then, its been fairly stable. Until today, that is. It hung around 205, but was 207.5 this afternoon. This after a jog with my daughter this morning. Hopefully this weight stays with me. That is my goal of course.
Elbow is progressing, albeit slowly. Still cannot do a few exercises. Barbell curls being one of them. But the EZ bar is ok now. A little over a month from now my elbow will get more rest, at least from training that is. Late october I begin trapping. That means less time for the gym. Then will come deer hunting. Regular training will resume come december. A good time to restart the 5×5.
