Dealing with stress

I have always been curuious is to how others in the BB world deal with the stress of everyday lifeĀ  such as work, home, money, relationships? For me the last few weeks the stress of work has taken a toll on my diet and work outs , and it seem the more I obsessed about it the worse it seemd to get and all i wanted was Burger King and to just lay in bed.

I did take a weel off to let the body recoop - I been hitting itĀ  hard and figured I deserved a rest , and to regroup and get my self back on track with diet and exercise…amazing how fast you gain in the mid section when yiou eat like crap-LOL

Any way - things are back on track and now i have to work a lil hard to get rid of the extra i put on - but that is all part of it i guess ..bottom line is we have to step back and look at ourselfs outside of the big picture and get back on track.

sorry for my rambling, would like any thoughts of stress from you all so the next bought i can combat in a healthier manner.

I understand where your coming from.. its not easy and staying focus with training and dieting makes it harder.. But happy to hear your back on track.. Dont’ give up.. Were here for you :)

BB’ing is how I deal with stress. In the past my natural response to stress was to stop doing everything and become inactive in all areas of my life. Obviously that doesn’t work. When I was going through a really tough time and was totally depressed a wise friend told me if it took crawling on my hands and knees to get out of bed than thats what I needed to do . Now I hit the gym and if only for an hour or so I am focused on just me and nothing else. Afterwards I feel stronger and better able to handle the other stuff in my life. Everyone has stress, but we all handle it differently. Whatever works for you is the right thing. If that means taking a week off and eating Burger King than I say go for the double meat burger! I am glad to hear you are back on track my friend!

Oh Big Jim, Your doing just fine. Yes work and life takes its toll. Heck even lifting can be stressful, especially when ones body isn’t functioning properly (like my shoulder). The important issue at hand is to endure and run the race before you with diligence. And when you can run no further, come get me. I’ll help you on your race. I’ve got powerful legs so I could carry you no sweat. lol! Anyways if you need someone to talk to, you know how and where to find me. I’ll get that mood of yours turned around and get you pumped up for the gym. Keep it up big guy (soon to be a huge guy).

i definitely know where you are coming from with this man. i was having the same problem the last few weeks. glad to see you are back at it. i agree, you do have to take a step back and reevaluate through a different perspective and reaffirm why you got here to begin with. keep up the hard work! ps, throw in a rocky movie or an old van damme one to get you psyched back up, works for me!

I been under non stop stress since mid July, mostly financial so I know whr your coming from. For me, my gains and my goals in training is what gets me by. My focus is to compete and I won’t allow anything to detour me from that, in the gym im one of the best so when im down i go to whr im best at… hope this helps somehow. STRENGTH & HONOR

I hear ya loud and clear. My wife is on bed rest since she is pregnant, I have a 2 year old boy, I am the only one working/paying the bills, plus working out. I hardly have enough money left to eat with, let alone buy supplements. Working out helps me deal with stress but it doesnt help when some of the stress is caused by money. It seems money affects everything. Just hang in there man, I am! You are a bodybuilder and we know better than anybody, the longer you keep pushing yourself, the greater the reward. It all pays off in the end. Keep your head up!

    Hey Jim,

Hang in there man, we all go through stress at one point or another when trying to balance everything in our daily lives. Now that your back in the gym that will help take some of the stress off. Keep your head up!

I have to say Mr. Stress knows me well and loves to visit often. Besides my physical challenges, I also have the responsibility of helping care for my mother in early stages of Alzheimer’s. I am trying to balance those things with my responsibilities at home of taking care of my two parrots that keep me very busy, trying to maintain my workout schedule, and be mindful of nutrition too. I’m one of those guys that will almost eat anything that doesn’t bite back -so it’s still tough for me to make sure I eat right. What helps me manage stress is trying to prioritize things first of all, in 2 categories - critical and noncritical. It isn’t always that simple - but it helps. For me, religion also works, and I pray each day for help and guidance.
Also, the feeling of accomplishment that comes with getting things done, making progress with my body and health, and positive encouragement from others helps me too.
Hang in there with the stress - You look really great, and your hard work and attention to nutrition has paid off in a big way.
    Onward & Upward!
