Bulking for a month or so

February 1, 2009

Start today the Feb 1, I am going to go bulk for a month or so. It means I am going to be out for keto.

I am looking to gain at least 10kg of lean muscle in a month or so. I plan to stuck with my workout plan, but include some more exhausting exercises in it, plus have long resting hours.

new 1 month workout plan and keto

January 11, 2009

keto is working very good for me. Because of a few friends’ recommendations, I am not going for a very harsh keto. I am going with two carb days in a week, had pizza last night and lots of desi dishes today :)

In terms of workout plan, I had been noticing that on keto you loose somewhat endurance, for that you have to fill up to the mark of maintenance calorie level, so I am doing now.

Starting today I am going for a new workout plan which I plan to stick with for straight 3 months, here is the link from bodybuilding.com:

workout plan

Although I am going to follow a slightly modified plan as it is in the database, but the root essence remains same.

I feel like my BF% has now greatly reduced, I can see visible changes, but didn’t calibrate yet. I guess it must be -2% from when I started this regime.

update on keto diet + whey protein

January 6, 2009

I have been closely observing weight loss by measuring weight every morning/night daily and it seems to be alot of fun.. i.e. drinking water weight, food weight maybe, etc.

One interested thing I read in an article was that if you keep your protein high as well as fats high, but calories summing to somewhere below maintenance level then you are no way going to go into catabolic state at any time of the keto nutrition diet.

I did the same, from last one week, I am doing heavy workout 4 days/week and taking arorund 100g protein from ON whey 100% gold standard split in day and pre/post workout.

The *great* thing I am noticing is NO weight loss now, i am still at 155lb, but really visible level of fat loss! Lots lots of energy for workout (but less endurance). That’s true! I mean all my denim jeans are loose now, they have to hang somewhere down on the love belt.. or ass belt :)

I am noticing increased vascularity.

Other thing I am noticing is now that the DOMS pain go so quickly.. I give 70 hours rest in split body workout and the pain is gone in 40 hours of the last workout… Maybe this is protein or 8 hours sleep I am taking.

on keto from a 10 days

December 31, 2008

I have been running for a while, then minimized it to a small duration cardio only..

Being on keto was first strange, feeling really wiered.. breath stinks like anything, but yeah i controlled it somehow. I was on prolab creatine and hydroxycut hardcore for a while — so i had to drop them because of water retention and contents of caffeine. In the first week I have lost around 6 pounds, In my guess most of it is being water weight.. but sure to have somewhat fat loss as well as I can visibly see the difference in the waist size.

I knew starting keto life style would be the last thing i’d be doing, hence so far it is proving to be very good. I am fully on keto and feeling very good now… Let me describe here a bit of what/how I eat/what i do.

I take 6 meals in a day with around 1600 calories (1000 deficit from maintenance)

10am
2 cheese portions
1 cup of chinese green tea (which i bought from shanghai last week)

11am
1 table spoon olive oil

12pm
2 whole egg’s omelet friend in olive oil, with pepper, salt, red chilli (small quantiies of all)

1pm
1 cup of decafe coffee

3pm
1/6kg chicken nuggets fried in olive oil

5pm
1 cup of chinese green tea

6pm
2 whole egg’s omelet friend in olive oil, with pepper, salt, red chilli (small quantiies of all)

8pm
1/6kg chicken nuggets fried in olive oil

9pm
gym workout for 1 hour (3-4 days a week)

10pm
whey 100% gold standard protein shake
4 beef pepperoni sticks fried in olive oil

11pm or 12pm
take one-a-day multivitamin+multiminarel.
go to bed

I drink 1+ gallon of water a day, It was difficult to start this routine, but then I managed to settle.
In terms of body fat, I have it only at stomach, the tyre (love handle), hips. I was pleased to found out that there’s no fat on shoulders, bis, quads, calves. I never knew I had these natural quads and calves but just recently found out.. will soon be posting pictures of.

Now in terms of keto lifestyle, I think I can take it to a little further and keep the cylindrical like when I have lost fat, I’ll go in bulking mode and then come back to keto, maybe within the next few months.

In next few months, I am targeting to cut my body fat % from 16% to around 9%… I know a few people may say this is unrealistic but the kind of change I have seen within the last 10 days (a visible/measurable change in the waist size) and my devotion to being a six-packer, I must confess I am ready to pursue the challenge.

My body’s response from running

November 13, 2008

Today I ran after a few years… maybe the last time i was running was when I was playing soccer.

At first it felt strange, I followed the golden rule to optimally force the stamina to handle the running tractions. I followed a slow walk, a brisky walk and a short run… then rest… it was all so difficult at the beginning.

After completing first set, I gave it a pause of 1 hour and came back and sat in the car and noted the time. Once it was 1 hours time, i took off my ipod and went back to track.

This time there was certainly a difference. One was that I was feeling much more confident that Yes I can run, and I knew how it feel when you run, the second thing was that I could see many pro athletes running across me.

My body this time felt very good… i think it loved running.

Now I am planning to run for at least 2 and at max 4 days a week, for 1 hr each day.
