Damn Bad Day

So last night, what started out as a good night went bad really quick as the wife and I got into an argument… Can’t explain the full deal here, lets just say it sucked and put me in a bad mood which has carried over to today. Then at work, I am under the gun on a big project, I am doing a bunch of server upgrades (IT GEEK after all) and one of the servers is not cooperating. It is making today just worse.. So not only do I have to deal with issues at home, I have to deal with them at work…

Ce la vie! (French for such is life btw!)

maybe I will blow part of the upgrade off later to get in a workout and change my attitude… probably a good idea. Nothing else will help…

Just a quick post

I have been crazy busy at work, but I wanted to post a quick blog note. You folks on this site inspire me, I mean every time I check out someone else’s bodyspace with progress pics I feel like I need to get on the treadmill, elliptical or hit the weights hard! Thanks!

Last week while I was traveling for work I got some complements from some of my customers who I haven’t seen in a while, it was cool. Things like - "you have lost some weight", "you look like your doing well" and all of that stuff. It was cool cuz with my mixed progress it made me pumped to stick with my workouts.

Since my eating got worse as the week went along I felt like a bloated pig by Thursday. I made my boss have a "good dinner" by taking him out to eat. I was dieing for some seafood. He won’t touch it, it is too good (healthy) for him. It made me feel so much better to have a nice piece of Tuna, with steamed veggies and a spud. The bloating didn’t go down for a couple of days post business trip. It helped that I got right back to my home base diet - oatmeal and eggs / egg whites in the am with fresh berries, light snack, then good lunch etc.. It took me 3 days to de-bloat. Makes you really think about how important the diet is. As a test I checked my weight on Saturday am, I was up 5 pounds from 193 lbs to 198. Then on Monday after I got rid of most of the bloat, I was back down to 193. Pretty crazy!!!

Traveling - update

Monday, August 6th, 2007

So I am staying with my boss this week while I am traveling. No biggie, he is very cool. So when I got in last night I was beat, my 4.5 hour drive took me almost 6 because of no other reason than people just can’t drive. I hate I-95 from Raleigh to DC Metro area. It always piles up around Fredricksburg VA and continues for a long time. I mean that extra 1.5 hours killed my back. I had to pull over a few times to get out and stretch. The cool thing is my boss and his wife invested in a new elliptical trainer. So I was afraid it was going to be a pain for me to workout this week, I know I have no excuse not to get some cardio work in since they have some equipment. Lifting weights is another story. A new Gold’s was supposed to open near them, and according to the Gold’s website it was to open last month. I called there this morning and it is still 3 weeks away from opening. Damn it… Anyhow I can use one of the other ones, but in Rockville traffic it is going to suck to get to them. Plus, my boss drove to the office today and I don’t have a parking pass on my car, so now I have to go back to his house get my gymbag and my car, then go to the gym… Stop complaining you lazy bum!! I can’t be that lazy, I woke up this am and did 30 minutes on the elliptical. After the drive last night I woke up late to workout, but at least I did it. It burned me up… I couldn’t cool down until lunchtime..

I feel good now that I got in my Cardio. I need to figure out how I am going to get the weights in. I really need to do an upper body workout (Arms, Chest, Back, Shoulders) I feel myself getting weaker and I need to hit the weights (lightly !! ) since I don’t want to mess up my back again. After my cardio session I did my Yoga and Pilates (Y+P) workout. Man the exercises are increasing in intensity and they are really working my core. I can feel myself getting stronger and I love it!

Must keep going!

So I am 3 weeks out from my back injury, and in the back of my mind I keep thinking about the lyrics of a song where the line goes "Maybe you had to much too fast", Who can name that tune? LOL. So I think either I was trying to hard to lift heavy when I wasn’t ready or I just lifted wrong and messed up my back. Either way it sucks. So my Yoga and Pilates has been paying off. I feel so much better. I have been back in the gym a few times and have been hitting the Cardio hard. I haven’t missed a workout in days which makes me feel much better. I am traveling next week for work and I want very badly to keep it up. The Golds I workout at in Rockville is kind of out of the way, so I have to have a good plan. Fail to Plan and you Plain to fail right? So my plan is to run in the morning before breakfast, then eat shower work and get my workout in after work The gym is closer to my client site than where I am staying and the traffic sucks trying to get to that gym in the am. Heck it is Rockville, there are way more people per square mile then there are around Raleigh. No cardio equipment where I am stying (with a co-worker) so that is why I will run on my own. This will be a treat… I haven’t done that in a long time, run outside on my own that is. I have to do it though… must keep going! On the plus side of all of this is I lost 2 more pounds, Yea Me! Down to 193 lbs. Sweet! My goal is 185 by October 1st. I do not see this being an issue!
