Weighed in at 199.8 this morning. Just under! But I finally did it. 10 more pounds to go….but this was a huge milestone for me. I haven’t been under 200 in several years. WOOHOO!!!

it’s quiet here….not much is going to get done the rest of this afternoon. I am going to buzz out early and hit the gym. Maybe get there before too big of a crowd arrives. WOOHOO!

over the last two months, I’ve finished my bout with plantar fasciitis, dealt with my runner’s knee (ITB), had a pulled muscle in my ribs (from golf, of all things), and now this week I am recovering from a wrist injury (more specifically, the tendon that runs from the wrist to the thumb.
And you people told me that turning 30 was easy!
Anyway, I bought a wrist brace at the store, so I can go lift for the first time in about a month today. I am itching to get in to the gym bad. Any suggestions you have for starting off after a month of no lifting without pulling something else, would be much appreciated.

I am out of the acute phase of the ITB syndrome. I’ll only lift upper body this week, and no standing exercises….I know it’s not ideal but I can’t strain my knee too much yet.
That also means no spin class this week either….how I miss it! But I also know that an extra week will give my knee enough time to where I don’t have to worry about making this a chronic condition (too many bad experiences in my life from pushing injuries to a point of chronic degeneration)
Anyway, will do some back tomorrow.

I’ve spent the last three evenings after work icing/stretching/wrapping my knee. Today I am able to walk around without a limp. I am nearly out of the acute phase of this, and can really start stretching it over the weekend. I would like to get it well enough to go to spin class next Tuesday morning….but we’ll see. I don’t want to jump in too quickly.
In the meantime, my carbs are low today….lots of veggies and fruits in place of the more carb-dense whole grains (although I had oatmeal this morning).
I just have to remain patient with this knee and give it the right time to heal….

well, it’s been a couple of years since my really bad bout with an irritated ITB (the band that runs down the side of your knee). But this weekend it reared it’s ugly head. I am going to have to take a couple of weeks off to make sure I get this taken care of. This means no cardio, and only upper body lifting.
I am going to have to make sure I cut down my calorie consumption for these couple of weeks, and lower my carbs, up my protein. Until then…it’s going to be lots of icing and resting my knee.

I mean that in more ways than one. First off, it was one of those nights where I probably woke up three or four times during the night, but it felt like I was up all night. I don’t think I ever got REM sleep. Then I had my 6 AM spin class which I refuse to miss.
Now I sit here at my cubicle trying to stay awake. No amount of desk stretching is going to help, it’s going to be a long day either way. And I am going to lift this evening - I can’t miss it.
I think the lack of sleep was due to the heat - little warmer than normal in the house. I’ll definitely spend the extra buck or two for cooler temperatures…my sleep is worth it.
Weighed in at 203.4. I have to keep telling myself that this is going to take time. I want to see a number below 200 really bad. I just have to keep eating right and losing it the right way!

want to lean out a little more and knock out an extra 200 calories a day from my diet. I’m doing it by making my mid-morning and mid-afternoon meals a meal replacement shake with some almonds or a veggie, instead of my usual mini-entree (like a stir fry or other). These MRs are the Labrada Lean Body low carb version. I like the taste of these and they have 42 grams of protein a shake.
I’ll do this a week or two and see what happens, see if it is a sustainable switch.

Made a bet with my dad and brother, we’re having a little weight loss competition among us. This will be good motivation for me - I’m just too dang competitive not to do everything I can to win this. I started out Saturday morn with 202.6 pounds…the final weigh-in will be October 1st.
Now, I will be trying to lose it all through bodyfat, while I know my dad and brother will be going for major weight loss. But that’s OK, because I feel like I offset that handicap with my knowledge. I definitely live and breath this stuff more than they do - so I have to apply that knowledge to make this competitive.

Couple days in a row of scratching, fighting to find good things to eat…driving around the rows of restaurants and sandwich shops. Sometimes I passed the test, sometimes I failed miserably (I ordered onion rings once, but on a bright note, couldn’t stand the taste of them - maybe I am starting to dislike all that grease!)
All this because I failed to plan my meals ahead and cook them ahead of time. then 3 hours from last meal rolls around and I’m caught trying to find a needle in a haystack, what with maybe one semi-healthy joint surrounded by the fat-laden artery clogging fast food joints (although I still drive through McDonalds for their coffee - black, of course - they brew some good java).
Time to push the reset button for me. I’ll be hitting the grocery store with a prepared shopping list and meal plan for the entire week. This will make life so much easier….
