Training Independently

I have trained independently in the past, but have gotten spoiled over the past few months working with my trainer. I have not acquired enough skills to build multiple muscle group routines. Additionally, I lack the knowledge required to develop more challenging workouts, but when necessary I do what I’ve learned from my trainer when I’m on my own.

Monday: back, chest, legs and a little shoulders

Seated Rows

Cable front Pull Downs

T-bar Rows

Chest Press

One legged push ups

Flyes

One legged squats

Lying abductor

Arnold dumbbell press

35 minutes on stair climber

Monday’s goal was to do mostly upper body and moderately hit the legs. I’ll do mostly legs Fri. or Sat. I worked hard and I was exhausted– thought I wouldn’t be able to finish my cardio, but pushed myself. It seemed as if some of the fellows in the gym were staring (somewhat of an incentive) at me so I had to finish my sets (with some intensity), increase reps and/or weight for 2nd and 3rd sets when appropriate. I love my trainer and am not ready to go solo, but am glad to know that I can challenge myself. I look forward to reading more exercise guides and understanding more about muscle development. Eventually, I will be able to do my own routines.
