About Me
My name is Dave.. cause this is so public that’s all I’ll give away for now. I’m a cop in a city of about 170,000. I put in for the SWAT team recently, but I didn’t make it.. but that’s ok.. cause it gives me more time to increase my time in the O-course! Ha! I’ll show them…
I joined the department in 2004. I was 5′11′’ weighing around 140lbs. I could easily run miles and timed my mile and half at 10 minutes. But my ten rep max for bench was only 140lbs and squats?… what were those?
So, I changed my goal to gain muscle weight and increase my overall strength. I found myself a bit intimidated when I’d respond to a fight and some muscle bound drunk at the hiphop club decided I was his next challenge. I started my own research and gained about 10lbs. It was nice to see the up in my performance on the street.
The city fitness guy created a powerlifting plan for me (modified to add a few bodybuilding exercises) and off I went. I topped out at 170lbs at about 10% body fat… ok, I want to think that, but officially I measured at 12%. I was finding that I was stronger than many of the guys I ran into on the street regardless if they were bigger than me. Nevertheless… There were always many who were.. just kept me going.
That brings me to the last year. Some major changes in my life led me to a rather stressful year and many missed workouts. I raised my body fat to 17% and lost a considerable amount of muscle.
NOT ANYMORE! I’m in my first phase of three (3 four week workouts) that should increase my one rep max in bench, squats, Military Press, and Dead Lifts.. by the way.. Dead lifts are a ton of fun!
I found this site last night and what a way to keep myself motivated. Besides, seeing so many pictures of ripped abs gave me the motivation to think "Woah.. why can’t I do that!" I’m well aware that it’s not only going to take work and time… but a low body fat %.
So.. here I am… Ready…GO! NOW!
