lbs per week..

Ok.. We all know that to lose a pound you have to burn an excess of 3500 calories, so basically to lose a pound in a week you have to cut 500 calories a day. Sounds simple right? Well, maybe..

So what if I want to average a weight loss of 3lbs per week? I mean, obviously it can be done, I’ve seen it on shows like The Biggest Loser, and Celebrity Fit Club. However, to do so, would I have to be in the gym 4 hours a day? I know weight is more likely to stay off if we lose it gradually, but like most people, I want to make sure that I stay motivated throughout my entire weightloss process.

I guess my burning question is "whats the line between acceptable weight loss goals, and drastic unrealistic weight loss?"

It is not about how quickly you loose it but rather that you do it in a healthy fashion. If all you are doing is trying to loose weight quickly by any means necessary you will gain it back. If your goal is life long health then you will loose it more slowly but it will be healthy. Eat 6 meals a day (every 2.5-3 hours) and make each meal well balanced and healthy (a lean protien, complex carb and veggie or fruit). Simple.

You’re right.. I guess it’s just so appealing to think that I could look a certain way by next summer. I need to really focus on why I want this and be willing to wait if that’s how it has to be.
