Well today was chest day and for the 3rd straight week my training partner was MIA for chest, so who knows. Anyway, I decided to try something a little different today and work primarily upper chest only. I rotated my entore workout between db incline presses and db flyes. I decided to kick flat bench out for a little while as well as decline to see if that sparks a little growth/stregnth in my chest area.
Has anyone tried ditching bench for awhile like this? Does it make a difference from anyone’s point of view? I also got into a discussion with a guy I see regulalry at the gym regarding using the Smith machines over free weights for training. he swears by the Smith machines but I have always lifted with free weights pretty much. I guess both have there inherent pluses and minuses. I am thinking I may try some machine work a little more often to mix things up, but the bulk of my exercise will be free weights I think.

Today was biceps with a little extra triceps work to make up for my crappy day yesterday. Overall a pretty good work out. Hit a new best on hammer curls with 50lb dumbbells so I was pretty happy with that, 12 solid reps. Some preachers, standing curls (inside-outs) and some triceps pushdowns. I went extra hard on the triceps to make up for yesterday so we’ll see if I am sore tomorrow which I am hoping for. Other than that just another very very long day at the office. Thank god for the sanctity of the gym….

Today was shoulders and tri’s day, though I am really thinking I need to pair tri’s with something else or give them there own day to themselves. I am just not seeing/feeling much development in my tri’s for some reason. Today was one of those days where my concentration wandered most of the day and I ended up socializing and half-assing my sets. On a scale of 1-10 today defintley was a 3 or 4 intesity wise, I hate days like this , it makes me feel like I wasted my time in the gym and that pisses me off more than anything else.

Did chest today as I do each Tuesday. For the second week in a row my training partner was MIA for chest so I ended up lifting a little lighter than normal and mixing it up a bit with some machine work in addition to free weights. I focused primarily on my upper chest doing alot of incline pressing and flyes. If I hit my chest the way I am hoping I did I shoudl feel it tomorrow when i wake up. Back routine awauts tomorrow….

Well today was leg day, did some walking lunges with 50lb dumb bells which I oh so enjoyed…. on top of that worked calves, quads, etc. I was doing some squats when I heard a loud riiip sound. I instantly thought I had split my gym shorts, but come to find out I split my favorite boxers instead. Needless to say I was slightly embarrassed and slightly pissed, lol. Oh well, you train hard and you deal with it I guess. Chest tomorrow which I hate…

Well did chest today, though I really don’t feel as if I got a very good workout today. My workout partner was MIA today so I was flying solo. Chest day is my personal worst becasue chest is my weakest muscle set so without my partner to spot me for heavier reps let alone motivate me to lift heavy on chest my workout was pretty flat overall. I really want to start making some gains on chest since I am really dissapointed with my development there. I’ll be posting some updated progress pics later tonight. not sure how much of a difference if any I’ll really see though. We shall see.

On several occassions going to the gym in the AM (I go around 7-8ish AM) I usually see the same people. Some of the trainers have clients that come in for sessions, yada yada yada. Well there is one guy I have noticed that will sit in the parking lot and smoke a cigarrette before going to his trainnig session. I find it incredibly ironic that someone would smoke a cigarette and then go work out for an hour. It almost makes me feel sorry for the guy because in the long run I know he won’t stick with the gym routine, it just seems like it is something to fill his time I guess. Maybe I am off base here but I just feel there are 2 types of people that work out…those that will work out until the day they die and make the most of it and those that will work out as long as it is something to keep them busy. Maybe I am wrong though.

What a day, it started out lame as I woke up nearly 30 minutes later than usual. I had to eat my breakfast on the car ride to the gym which consisted of a whole grain bagel, a bannana and a protien shake. One I got there I found out my iPod decided to completley freeze up so I couldn’t use it at all. I ended up having to listen to the gym music which , to be honest, is not very motivating at times. Added to that I was working my back today which I never really get pumped for…so routine I normally feel flat on minus my iPod…it was a really really lame workout in my opinion. Got to work and walked in on a tornado of issues it seemed…someone shoot me, haha…on the upside I got my iPod fixed so at least I’ll have it for shoulders tomorrow.

On my diet last night and did it ever taste good. But I really do feel guilty about it honestly. I went out with my brother and we got some sushi, which really wasn’t the cheating part, but then I saw that they had sesame chicken which was my all time "bad for you food". I broke down and ordered a plate of it knowing full well it was totally off limits of my diet. I suppose that once in a very very random while it is alright to cheat a little like that, but I guess I am giving my penance here because I feel guilty about it, haha… Oh well, back to cans of tuna and grilled chicken breasts for the long foreseeable future.

Today was chest day, my least favorite day only becasue it is my worst overall exercise stregnth wise. I decided to drop my weight some and focus strictly on form and tempo for my workout. I couldn’t really get over how much more of a workout I felt like I got with less weight focusing on form more than the weight I was putting up. I think I may try and focus on form more on my workouts than overall weight to see if I can make some more noticeable gains all around.
