WOW! 8months no alcohol and I don’t miss it!

I am so glad that I can go around my friends and see them drink beer and I don’t crave it anymore. They are so used to me not drinking now they don’t offer or throw it up in my face! Good friends we can watch football (DALLAS COWBOYS OF COURSE) and they bring me bottled water or diet soda. Beer consumed so much of my life growing up I am just glad to be able to stop! Thank you GOD!

Its great u have such supportive friends I applaud them for respecting your choice…you know how many pple would practically try to pour it down your throat if U say no and brand you as weird if you dont drink I know this all too well…keep it up those are unwanted calories you dont need…and make it a future goal to ditch the diet soda alltogether..then you will really benefit :)

    oh yes…go cowboys!!!

Good for you that you haven’t given in! It’s been about 25 years for me and I can tell you that it just gets easier and easier and eventually you will wonder what the heck you ever saw in it to begin with :)

Congrats on the wagon. I myself had alcohol problems in the past and it is great not drinking anymore. I’m in the best shape of my life and no more hangovers. Keep up the good work

Hey good job! The only thing I have to say though is that you should watch some Seahawks once in awhile… :)

Screw the beer! It isn’t good for anything. Its been 15 yrs for me and I don’t need it. Now if I could only say that about peanut butter!

  7. Drunken Panda Says:

Congratulations on going alcohol free, Jay. It is a big step toward health and fitness goals, and I’m sure it’s helping you achieve all that you’re trying to achieve. Well done and keep hitting that gym hard!

    Kudos to you!

I’ve had no alcohol in 2008 and only 3 beers total in 2007. Two during the World Series during an outing with my brother and one of his in-laws and then a third with a meal. So that’s three beers in the past 13 months, perhaps longer. I wasn’t really keeping track in 2006.

Good job! That’s a HUGE step…my husband’s going through the same steps trying to get alcohol out of his life…it’s a tough thing for you and those that love you. Good thing you have the support from your friends, must be a great thing!

This was my first dry SuperBowl, too. I’m really proud of you - that was my first step in beginning a whole-life transformation. It sounds like you have much more supportive friends, though. Props.

That is so so awesome! My fiance and I stopped drinking almost 3 years ago, and we don’t miss it at all.

It’s funny, because we never planned on stopping altogether. We decided to try not drinking for a month just to let our body detox and stuff. Before that, we were having at least a couple of drinks a night and then many more on the weekends.

Within the first 2 weeks, we noticed that our quality of sleep has majorly improved. The month passed, and we decided to go for another month. After 3 months, we decided that we didn’t care if we ever did it again.

The hardest part is definitely when friends and family don’t get why you don’t drink. Drinking is such a social norm, and you suddenly become abnormal when you don’t do it. Isn’t that so messed up? It should be the other way around!!

I’m really happy that you are happy that you don’t drink. I’ve watched alcohol destroy people in my family, and even with the drama and chaos they’ve created for themselves, they still can’t let it go. Addiction is so tragic.

Anyway, awesome job on the months. I guess it’s almost been 10 now, right?

Yowch. I cannot imagine life without beer. Not as an everyday thing–but a special occasion thing. Kudos to you!

  13. BananaFoster Says:

I already like your friends. Alcohol is a lot of waste of money and empty calories. Great decision. I do like my one glass a wine a month. I have a rack but just for decor or to give as gifts when I go to get togethers. Awesome

  14. jtwill85 Says:

I absolutely feel the same way. Perhaps once a month I have a glass of wine socially, but I haven’t had a dink outside that in almost 4 months. I also cut out soda close to two months ago. I never would ahve thought I could live on water, tea and occasionally milk, but I feel so good because of those changes.

    Kudos to you!

  15. tshawnlee Says:

good job thats hard work i know i had the same problem but my ‘’friends'’ wasn’t as good as yours. i have not had any alcohol in 3 years. it’s the best thing i ever did. keep up the good work

  16. damien12341 Says:

Good grief! Are we all recovering alcoholics? LOL. Before I started getting really serious I would drink about 100 beers a month. Then I got serious and dropped that to about 50. Now I’m REALLY serious and plan to drop that to about 12…if that. I’ve also kicked my Diet Coke/Caffeine habit. I’ve been "sober" for 7 weeks now. All I drink is water and my supplement shakes (and a few beers)
