Running a 5 K today in honor of Earth day

Against my better judgement, since I hate to run! I am running a 5 k today, for Earth Day. Hope it does not ruin my leg work out tomorrow. It sounds pretty windy outside wich will suck for the run. Oh well it can’t hurt. I will just think of it as a warm up to all of the cardio on the horizon pre contest soon.

Arm day

Wednesday is arm day. I do biceps and triceps together on arm day and get a great pump. The Vaso Flow by SAN is worth all the $. It is great for the skin tearing pumps it claims. By the time I finished yesterday my arms had to have swelled up to about 18.5 inches. I know that sounds small compared to the mass monsters with 22 in guns but I have small joints and it makes me feel like my arms are huge!. After 4 exercises for bi’s  and 4 for tri’s I had veins on the back and front of my arms it was great. It looked great except for the farmers tan line from the weekend at my sons baseball game! I guess I have to get some more even sun this weekend to even it up!

The day after!

It is always a good sign that you are feeling the pain in the muscles worked the day before. Not the bad kind of pain but the good kind that says "yeah you worked in the right combinations of exercises and sets to accomplish your goal for that muscle group! The leg training went great yesterday> No interuptions in the gym. Just pure training. Substituting leg press for squats worked out good. Went up in weight slowly to 850 then went down fast. Strip an plate and get back on for as many reps as possible and then go again untin it was sown to just abot 300 lbs. Then a good hack squat run for 4 sets then the torturous lunges with 70 lb dummbells. I finishe off with one leg at a time lying leg curls then heavy seated leg curls. The work out was abot 55 minutes. So it was quite exhausting. But it was killer.

Legs again today!!

Well I hope I can duplicate the crazy leg work out from last week. I just will not squat today. I will sub with leg press and hack squat. Hack squats are a sure fire way to smoke them. The pressure on my Right shoulder last week from squats was a little much more than I should be putting it through. Sounds weird but holding 405 for sets is a bit hard on the rotator cuff. So I will hold back on the squats for a couple of weeks and approach it from a different angle.

 

Great leg day

Well, I had legs yesterday and smoked them! I think I finally am over the hump from the Hernia surgery. I Tested the guts yesterday by working my way up to 405 squats. It held out! I did not blow out my intestines. After Going up to 405 I striped off plate after plate back down to 135, doing as many reps as possible. Without losing my preworkout shake!! Nest wer the 65 lb db lunges. What a stretch. Felt great and could barley walk after. It was a great high after. Then finished up with the seated and lying leg curls. Legs are great!

Went to orthopedic Dr for R shoulder again today

Went for follow up on right shoulder today. First I have to give my Dr his due. This guy is not the typical surgeon that wants to cut on you right away. My right shoulder had been giving me pain in all pressing movements. (like most of us older guys (haa ha) I started losing strength due to the pain so I got it checked out. The MRI shows a missing biceps tendon attachment at the glenoid and two parial thickness tears. One in the Labrum and anothe in superspanatis of the rotator cuff. This sucks!. I have been lifting with half of the normal weights I had used in the past. There has been some improvement. Dr says to still take it easy on the pressing for another 3-6 weeks and see it it improves more. I just hope I don’t  have to drop out of the show.

countdown to 18 Aug contest in Brick NJ

Well once again the preparation for a contest will begin. Too bad I have to diet on a week vacation to Myrtle Beach. I guess that it won’t be too bad. Just stay away from the alcohol. The contest is a USBF sanctioned event, all natural. And tested. Too bad even pro-hormones are banned.
