Controversial, but needs to be out there.
Okay, this is a controversial issue, but I HAVE TO get my two cents in…
After watching yet another episode of the Biggest Loser…I thought to myself again…Why do these morbidly obese people continue to get rewarded for doing what they are supposed to do in the first place?
Why not start rewarding the people who never let themselves get to that point, who make the sacrifices their entire life, stay fit and healthy, and never give into gordging themselves time after time?
I feel pretty strong that we are all in need for a time of "Accountability of Self". As antiquated as it is, even the food pyramid will keep you healthy and not obese…we all know at every income level and culture that fried foods are not good for you, too much candy and sweets are BAD…
So, what’s it gonna take for there to be a needed shift towards rewarding the people who take care of themselves, and away from rewarding those who live a life of gluttony, lack of self respect and then look to the "community" to solve their issue brought on by their own doing?
Whew…that feels better!

Amen to that brother.
You just want to ask these people. "ok, at what point did you finally realize that you were FAT?"

THANK YOU!!!!! That’s what I always say. I think it takes a lot more strength, discipline and determination to not let yourself go. I’ve always admired those who had a healthy lifestyle from the start. I say that about the physically fit, and those who haven’t let drugs and alcohol get the best of themselves either.
I’m all for rewarding those who have kept themselves in shape from the start.

Well the people who work hard to stay fit get rewarded as well, with their health, looks, and compliments from other people. Fat people have taken a bad road and have been swimming in negative thoughts and emotions that reinforce the same behavior that put them there. These people are being rewarded because in psychology, positive reinforcement is more effective in helping someone change their ways. it’s like never ever ever giving a child praise for drawing nicely, or going potty during potty training because "that’s what they are suppose to be doing."
It’s a shame that some of the world has came to a point where complimenting is longer used, the words "I love you" are rarely said or understood, and "I’m proud of you" is never spoken, because people assume others should "already know’ or "are SUPPOSED to know."
I would compliment everyone of the morbidly obese people who have made a change and commitment to a better life, rather than say, "bout time, you should have already been doing this, this is what you are supposed to do."
Next, don’t alot of people who have great figures and bodies, get paid to model, promote supplements, and things of that nature. Again, i think they ARE rewarded.

There’s got to be a point in their life when they stopped and realised they were approaching the point of no return.
Like on a sun bed when you start to burn!
Providing that you do not have genuine medical reason there is no excuse for being overweight!

Shoopie, I agree with a lot of what you are saying…I am not really focusing on the one tenth of one percent of the extremem fit people…although the time and resources FAR exceed any compensation from shoots and such…can explain moer if you would like..
I am 100% for walking with obese individuals or groups to solve the issue…I just wish it were not glorified. Maybe do the same show…just no HUGE payout at the end. And maybe DON’T remove them from the environment that caused or supported their obesity, but teach them how to change within that environment.
It really gets under my skin to hear people say things like "They just worked so hard" or "You don’t understand, it’s easy for you"… and so on…you know what I am saying… I am in the extreme fitness category, and work very hard and sacrifice so much more than people know….which is my choice.
So, I agree, in part…thank you for the long reply!!!!! Have a good one!
