Quad Pull

Saturday, October 3rd, 2009

I pulled my right quad this morning while blastin’ my legs so now I am walking around like an old man ;)

What an interesting feeling when it happens and the thought that went through my head was "I f’d something up!"

I’ve been sipping on Scivation Xtend to aid with the repair work since it helps with my normal post workout recovery.

Hopefully, I’ll be able to get some upper body work in this week to keep the lean mass gains going and until my quad is ready for the iron again.

Keep blastin’ the iron!

More Sled Draggin’ with Truck Pushing

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

Tonight was my abs & cardio day but it turned into dragging the sled once again and the addition of a truck push.

I dragged 270 lbs down and back the length of a football two times forward and two times backward achieving some serious quads, glutes, and calves punishment.

We topped off the leg assault with a truck push down the length of a football field.

Sled Work

Sunday, August 2nd, 2009

I was not happy with my leg workout yesterday so I was back in the gym today to hit leg press and leg curls to really work my quads and hammies.

Change of Plans: I was finishing up my workout with half hour of cardio when I was convinced to do some sled work out back.

With 180 lbs loaded on the sled, I ended up running the length of a football field two times both forward and then backwards to work my calves, simply awesome workout!

My legs have now been worked to my satisfaction!

Comp Day - 2009 NPC Natural Michigan Bodybuilding

Saturday, July 18th, 2009

Well, as of comp morning there is no doubt that I will be competing in the Open Middleweight class not the Open Lightweight class like at the NPC Novice MichiganAll I can say is that we shall see how I do. I’ll update this blog after both pre-judging and the night show (after enjoying some food).

PRE-JUDGING UPDATE

I ended up in the Middleweight class weighing 159 lbs. I believe their were 15 competitors and I predict I’ll place 15th. Even with this placing, I must say that the competitors here in Michigan are great! Everyone is friendly and will to help you get ready for the show. BTW, I competed with bear1 and n8nestor from the Detroit Iron Blastin’ BodyGroup. These two great fellows will place top 7 for sure. Well, it’s time to relax for now but I will be back at the theater at 6PM for the evening show/posing routine portion.  EVENING SHOW & PLACING

I had a lot of fun at the evening show and the after party with friends at Red Robin - Novi. I placed 11th out of 15 so for next season my goals are to be extremely ripped & shredded while adding additional lean mass to come in at the top end of the middleweight class.

My next comp will be the 2010 NPC Novice Michigan.

1 week ’til the 2009 NPC Natural Michigan Bodybuilding Comp!

Saturday, July 11th, 2009

One week from now I’ll be getting ready for pre-judging at the 2009 NPC Natural Michigan Bodybuilding Comp in Detroit (Redford Theater).

Tomorrow I will complete my water load reaching 3 gallons/day then the deplete will begin bringing me to sipping water the day of the show.

My weight is looking good but it will be another close one to get into the Open Lightweight class. I need to think about what weight class I want to compete in next season if cutting for lightweight continues to be difficult.

My training, diet, tanning, posing, and cardio all continue to go well.

That’s all for now.

Posing Routine Video Up

Saturday, April 4th, 2009

First, I must thank jjd6290 for capturing my posing routine at the 2009 NPC Novice Michigan Bodybuilding Championships, thanks Joe!

2009 NPC Novice Michigan Posing Routine 3/28/2009

As I have mentioned in an earlier blog, I had an absolute blast at my first comp and this video capture it!

Now it’s time to kick my diet and training back in gear for the 2009 NPC Natural Michigan Bodybuilding Championships July 18.

3rd Place at the 2009 NPC Novice Michigan!

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

I absolutely had a blast last night with my first competition the 2009 NPC Novice Michigan Bodybuilding Championships!

I placed 3rd in the Open Lightweight division and what is also cool about last night is that all from my gym who competed at the show either won their class or placed, AWESOME!

If you are considering doing a show, DO IT! You will have so much fun and at the same time meet a lot of great people who have the same mindset and work ethic as you.

Keep training strong and movin’ the iron!

Day before the show…

Friday, March 27th, 2009

Well, I’m sitting here Friday morning thinking about my first competition tomorrow morning.

No cardio or lifting on the agenda today just reflecting, getting my food in order, and other stuff packed in my gym bag for tomorrow’s adventure!

I had my first spray tan session last night and then practiced posing while the Pro Tan dried. I will have my second and final spray tan done tonight so I should be looking pretty freakish for a normally fair skin redhead ;)

I am also psyched that I hit my weight goal this morning of 154 lbs so now I can compete as a big a$$ lightweight!

Night before NPC Novice MI Comp - 154 lbs @ 5%BF

Anyway, that’s all for now.

Thanks again to all of my friends here on BodySpace that have been supporting me through my 3 month quest to compete. It is most appreciated!

Three Contest Prep Days Left…

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

Only three more contest prep days left to stage time!

My posing routine is complete and my drying out/get ripped & shredded phase is in full swing!

I have some final food shopping to do and think about what I am going to eat after the comp!

-Jeff

4 weeks out but who’s counting ;)

Monday, March 2nd, 2009

Just four weeks out from my first comp and I am feeling good about my diet and training even with the up and down days one experiences during this endeavor.

This remaining time will be interesting and challenging as I continue to cut up for that ripped and shredded look!

-Jeff
