11 Month Progress and feeling a little down…

Saturday, August 25th, 2007

I know that I have come a long way in 11 months but I was hoping to have rid myself of visible body fat around my waist and chest by the completion of 12 months of training.

I am discouraged because this goal is not going to happen when I was planning on it too. I will continue to train hard and revise my diet, yet once again, to get rid of this body fat.

Hopefully, I’m just feeling down tonight and all will be better tomorrow.

Keep training strong everyone!

Re-worked back today…

Sunday, August 19th, 2007

Our family plans to spend an extended weekend at a waterpark changed today due to the cool and rainy next comply of days. With this change of events, I decided to go to the gym and re-train my back from the less than 100% effort I gave it on Friday.

I started out with improvised T-Bar rows and did 3 X 15 @ 90 lbs and then the following:

Straight Arm Lat Pulldown:  13, 10, 9 reps @ 65 lbs

Upright Rows:  3 X 10 @ 85 lbs

Bent-over Reverse Grip Barbell Row:  3 X 15 @ 115 lbs

Dumbbell Rows:  3 X 15 @ 50 lbs

Lat Pulldown with Reverse Grip:  3 X 15 @ 125 lbs

ISO Rows:  6 @ 135 lbs per side, 3 X 10 @ 90 lbs per side

Barbell Shrugs:  3 X 10 @ 185 lbs and 3 X 15 @ 135 lbs

With my back tight and feeling some soreness, I walked out of the gym feeling that I gave the 100% lacking from Friday’s workout.

Keep moving the iron everyone! -Jeff

Turned out to be a lot of cardio…

Sunday, August 12th, 2007

Headed up north, here in Michigan, for a weekend mountain bike get-a-way with a couple of friends. One of the guys has a cabin about an hour from the Mackinac bridge so we though a change in scenery was needed for our trail riding.

The weather on Saturday was perfect to hit the trails and put some serious miles on the bikes. Well, at least that was the plan.

Instead of a lot of fun on single tracks with serious mileage behind us, the trail we picked ended up being mainly a cross country skiing wide trail with a lot of sand and not much more. As you know, walking in sand is tough but trying to ride a bike through it is hardwork. It felt like I was carrying an additional 100 lbs riding through this $hit. We were able to complete 19 miles in just over three hours but we were seriously worn out.

The end result, a lot of cardio and not much else. There is a 22 mile single track and very technical trail with in a quick drive from my house that we are going to hit to make up for this weekend’s not so adventure.

Keep training strong everyone!

-Jeff
