I improved on my squats once again!

With some helpful motivation from Paul (Animal Mutha), I improved on my 495 lbs squat by hitting 505 lbs for 5 reps!

Here’s the squat breakdown:

Warm-Ups 225X15 & 225×15, 315X12, 405X12, 495X7, 505X5, 315X10, 225X12

I also hit leg extension, leg curl, both seated and standing calf raises, hip abduction & adduction, barbell lunges (for stretching), and finished up with hack squats.

Another most excellent leg training day.

One wicked squat session today…

Let’s just say that I had the best mindset going into the gym today to perform squats. I started out with two warm-up sets and progressing to my 4th set were I successfully squatted 495 lbs (personal best) for 5 reps before my upper body started to complain about the weight.

SQUAT SETS: 245X15(WU), 245X15(WU), 405X10, 495X5, 460X8, 405X10, 315X15, 225X20.

Other exercises:

ROTARY CALF Straight On SETS: 310X15, 12, 10, 10, 8

ROTARY CALF Angled SETS: 250X12, 10, 10, 8

LEG EXTENSION: 170X15, 13, 13, 9

LEG PRESS: 450X12, 8

DEADLIFT: 290X10, 10, 10

One way to get rid of a sinus headache…

One way to get rid of a sinus headache, train legs hard ;)

I usually train legs on Saturday but my 5 year old daughter had her friends over for a B-day party so I postponed my leg training until Sunday. The party was a blast but I ended up taking a nap afterwards. The only time I feel like taking a nap is when my body is fighting something. That something ended up being the beginning of a sinus headache.

Fast forward to today. The headache was not gone this morning but there was no way I was going to postpone my leg training another day. So, I got to the gym did some warm up squats and then put the plates to the bar. I worked through 9 sets of squats, pyramid sets, and guess what, the sinus headache went away :) I was able to get in 5 sets of leg extensions and 10 sets of calf raises before I needed to get home.

The sinus headache has since returned so I guess it is probably an infection. Anyway, I had a great workout and I was able to spend some quality time outside today in sun with 50 deg. F temps. Not a bad day at all.

Punished legs…

Trained once again with Paul (Animal Mutha) this past Tuesday (3/6/07). We decided to punish legs and did we.

Lets just say that I lost count of the number of squat sets performed and my quads are still in pain today. AWESOME FEELING!

For squats, we utilized a Smith machine so that I could keep my feet together and punch out 20 reps per set working from 315 down to 135 lbs.

We also worked the leg extension, leg presse, leg curl and standing calf raise machines.

The end result, one excellent workout.
