Oh kiss my…
I’m trying to become a successful fitness competitor & model. I know this involves showing quite a bit of skin & I’m fine with it, but quite a few of my friends & family think that by doing this, I am becoming shallow & vain. Frankly, it pisses me off that they can’t look past the exterior aspect of this. People exercise all the time for health benefits & I never hear people giving them crap. Why is it that when your doing it to advance your career, your suddenly playboy material. (Bad in my family - but good for the checkbook - haha…) Anyone else deal with this? Thoughts, suggestions?

Nothing much to say other than we live in a contradictory culture where human nature is to appreciate physical beauty/attractiveness, but when most people are jealous of what you have achieved or are achieving through hard work; it is much easier to tear down and find flaws, as opposed to encourage or at LEAST keep your mouth shut. Like Arnold said, "Pity is given, but jealousy is earned."

I hope you don’t take this negatively, but you asked and I will give you my opinion. Granted it is just my opinion and other people may not agree with me but…
I agree with ‘missflexgr’. You are beautiful but your pictures look more like what I would see in a gentleman’s magazine and not a fitness magazine. I think that’s where the confusion may be coming from. You just have to learn to balance the provocative with the fitness model. Someone who pulls that off beautifully is AmySuds (check out her profile pics).
If your family and friends don’t understand the fitness aspect of what you are doing, then just ignore them. The only one you have to make happy is yourself. Even my opinion on this is neglible… if you like those pictures, then keep doing them! My opinion is just that… a personal opinion.
Best wishes!!

I say as long as you’re not hurting/killing anybody go for it! lol of coarse I get criticized for being too "libertarian" haha so… but if you’ve worked hard on your body it’s just like anything else you work hard on…you’re proud and want to show off your work. Go for it and strut your stuff ; ) haha

Thank you for the feedback; all is appreciated! Like many women out there, my idea of fitness modeling may include something from the likes of workouts in OXYGEN mag to American Curves with sexy lingerie, nothing more ‘gentlemanly’ then that… (Sorry Boys.
)
I think a hard body is something to be majorly proud of & doesn’t neccessarily mean your a shallow or vain person. I guess I will choose to believe the comments stem from jealousy as indicated here. Thanks all for the compliments - again much appreciated!
