I have fallen in the trap that most people fall into when they go to the gym and that is the dreaded trap of trying to do a lot of weight to either impress yourself or the other people at the gym. I never really noticed it until i was doing bench press the other day and really noticed that i wasnt going anywhere near my chest. In fact, i was only dropping the weight about 7 inches it seemed. Then i started to think about all my lifts and what i had really accomplished. Granted, i may be lifting a lot of weight and grunting and what not but am i really being beneficial to myself…not really. So, on my way home from the gym i told myself that i was going to pay attention to my form and not let it get out of hand. So, today was a back day, so every single movement i made in the gym was paid close attention to. I noticed that since i focused on ym form i was able to really hone in on the muscle that i was working out. Like when i was doing wide-grip cable pulldowns i could really feel my lats filling with blood and expanding, where as when i used to do it (jerking the weight down, and just trying to do a lot of weight) i really didnt feel it. So, thats my little tid-bit of info for the day, so for all you out there in bodybuilding land, this is iyaayashua, signing out…good lifting!!!!!!!

so after leaving the gym yesterday i just didnt feel like i usually do, especially since it was arms day which is my personal favorite, i usually feel down right awesome. so, i went to the gym today for a chest workout that was much anticipated. On the way i went and checked my body fat and its at 22% which isnt much different to what it was 2 months ago. that just destroyed my workout. all i could think about was how i havent made any progress. i dont know how accurate the test was but it looks to me like ive made progress but then again it could just be in my mind. I think i might just need to take a day off and relax, maybe im overtraining. but anyway just venting. thanks for listening to my ramblings.

ok…so i have my annual PT test coming up in a little under a month and basically i have to do well or I’m in trouble. Well the test consists of pushups, situps, and a 1 1/2 mile run. the pushups and sit-ups won’t be a problem but that run is killing me. i have been trying to get my run time down but everytime i get to about the mile mark my calves are burning with lactic acid so bad i cant even walk but i push through it and finish the run. my problem is my run time is about 15-16 min and i just cant push myself through the pain of my calves so i walk a little run a little till im done. i need to get my time in the 13’s. please help.

So, I went to the gym today for the first time with no sleeves. It felt pretty awkward because I’m pretty skittish about my size. But, I was reading arnold’s book and he said that he was ashamed of the size of his calves so he started to wear shorts that showed them off to motivate him to grow them into the calves that he’s famous for. So, i decided that’s what I needed to do. After about 30 min, I quit worrying about what people were thinking about and just focused on my shoulders, the muscle i was working today. I have to say that not wearing sleeves kept me motivated the whole time i was in the gym and i cant wait till tomorrow for an awesome bi and tri day. So for all those out there who are scared to wear sleeveless shirts to the gym….do it, show them guns off.

So I had a goal of getting my deadlift 1RM to 315 by the time I left Korea. Well I’ve got 71 days left and I met my goal today. Not only did I meet my goal but i repped 315, 3 times. I have to say that when you meet a short term goal in way of a long term goal it feels great. Thanks to everyone who has encouraged me to achieve my goals. Now to get my bench to 300…
