Matthew Kosloski Named Bodybuilding.com Teen Transformation of the Week

Vancouver, CA – September 19, 2009 - Bodybuilding.com, the Internet’s most-visited bodybuilding and fitness site and largest online retailer of nutritional supplements, has named Matthew Kosloski of Vancouver, Canada Teen Transformation of the Week. Since 2002, Bodybuilding.com has recognized the remarkable dedication it takes to make a truly inspirational transformation, and has made a point to reward those who inspire others.

1dw3Tk99fX4qaeSJi5OQ2iE1bMcUiY407.jpeg

“To highlight amazing transformations, we wanted to take the time to feature those who inspire us on Bodybuilding.com. We share these personal transformation stories with our readers. By sharing the diet and training used to achieve transformation, these motivational stories show people everything they need to know about creating the body of their dreams for themselves,” says Bodybuilding.com CEO Ryan DeLuca.

Hitting his heaviest weight (420 lbs) at the age of eighteen, Matthew Kosloski was in and out of the hospital, causing him to miss 11th grade and forcing him to home-school. He never had a girlfriend, and ultimately almost died. He decided something needed to change, and took it upon himself to start a weight-loss journey.

Kosloski started out slow, since his extreme weight had left him pretty much bedridden. He began by walking, playing games like hockey and catch with his little brother, and riding his bike to and from school everyday. Once the weight started to drop a bit, he slowly incorporated gym workouts three-times-a-week, and eventually made it a daily routine.

At first, Kosloski’s diet consisted of mostly fruits and vegetables, with no bread, noodles, pasta, or rice, and very little protein (due to a medical condition he developed called Diverticulosis which makes it difficult for the body to pass certain foods through the colon). Strangely, this condition is usually found in adults over forty, but at times can be brought on by a diet that is low in fiber content or high in fat. Since then, he has been able to gradually work a small amount of complex carbohydrates and proteins back into his diet.

Now with a healthy 183 lbs on his 5’11’’ frame, Kosloski has a few words of advice for others trying to lose weight: “Eat with your mind, not with your body. Do what you know is right. Don’t starve yourself! As much as it seems like it’s the best way to lose weight, it’s not. Think about what food is—nothing more than to fuel your body. Enjoy your food less, and find new positive things to keep you excited and motivated.”

For this inspirational story of success, Matthew Kosloski has earned the title of Bodybuilding.com Teen Transformation of the Week.

Massachusett’s Kari Hoyda Named Bodybuilding.com Trainer of the Month

Saturday, September 19th, 2009

CrystalMatthews

Grandville, MI – September 19, 2009 - Bodybuilding.com, the Internet’s most-visited bodybuilding and fitness site and largest online retailer of nutritional supplements, has selected Massachusett’s Kari Hoyda as Bodybuilding.com Trainer of the Month. Bodybuilding.com has bestowed her this Award of Excellence for the health and fitness benefits she provides her clients. They have set the precedent for what makes a personal trainer worthy of this prestigious award.

“To highlight exceptional personal trainers, we want to award one per month with the Bodybuilding.com Trainer of the Month award. We trust that everyone is looking for the same things in a personal trainer: friendly, knowledgeable, inspirational and the ability to create a motivating environment where clients can succeed,” says Bodybuilding.com CEO Ryan DeLuca.

Being an athlete in high school and college, staying active has always been a part of Hoyda’s routine. She developed a passion for the industry by reading fitness magazines and educating herself on proper nutrition and weight training.

“I wanted to become a personal trainer for several reasons with the main one being I love to help people! I never saw myself working a 9-5 desk job so I am fortunate to not have to go to “work” everyday, I just happen to get paid to do what I love 6 days a week,” explained Hoyda.

Hoyda looks at every one of her clients as a success story; they each have their own goals they want to reach and are making a positive step in the right direction by committing themselves to visit a trainer. When her clients thank her she always tells them that she just makes the workouts, and they do all the work. She loves to see their confidence build in themselves and them carry that confidence over into other aspects of their life.

Not only does she help others reach their goals, Hoyda practices what she preaches. She does 40-60 minutes of cardio six days a week in the mornings (usually 5:00 am/before she starts taking clients for the day) and takes Sundays as her rest day. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons she performs 30 minutes of circuit weight training and makes sure to never do the same routine twice. She watches her diet on a regular basis, but allows one weekly cheat meal of ice cream and macaroni and cheese.

For future plans, Hoyda says, “I’m working on a healthy cookbook right now so I’d also love to have some books published. There’s really no limit in my mind as to what I want to be doing or have accomplished in the next 10 years because I want to continue to improve and always do more… so fitness model, author, mom, wife, and business owner all sounds great to me!”

For these reasons, Kari Hoyda has earned the title of Bodybuilding.com Trainer of the Month.

Employees Show Permanent Dedication with Bodybuilding.com Tattoos

Saturday, September 19th, 2009

CrystalMatthews

Boise, ID – September 21, 2009 – Some think wearing a t-shirt or a hat with your company’s logo on it is a sign of dedication. But getting a tattoo of your company’s logo? Now that’s taking it to an entirely new level. For four Bodybuilding.com Customer Service Representatives (Cami Harland, Candy Ward, Candy Wells and Jimmy Wyler) this is exactly what they decided to do.

“I got this tattoo to represent this time in my life. I love this place, I love what it stands for and I love the people. I can’t think of a better reason to get a tattoo than to represent an amazing company and a bond with people who have helped change my life,” explained Customer Service Supervisor Cami Harland.

While working the night shift, all four employees decided to get the tattoos done together, so they would not only be able to share having the tattoo, but also the experience. Bodybuilding.com has been more than just a place of employment, but a place of inspiration.

1HaVvVuL6WkCxRSKAo4zQXVfFTfa0496.jpeg

“I have had a ton of “jobs”. I would wake up curse the world and trudge onto work. Those days ended when I was hired at Bodybuilding.com. My first day on the floor I was terrified. I knew nothing of this lifestyle. My work out back then consisted of the mild cardio I would get while playing beer pong. When I got the position here I never would have imagined that it would have changed my life so much. Not only do I now realize what a real work out consists of, I walked on stage for my very first figure competition this last May! I have an entirely new respect for people in this industry and am fully aware that it doesn’t come easy and there are no short cuts. I have become a much more disciplined person because of the way my lifestyle has changed, and I feel that I am so much better for it,” said Harland.

“This is one of my 9 tattoos; however it has the most meaning to me. Working at Bodybuilding.com has turned my life around. I have never worked anywhere before where I actually enjoy coming to work! Everyone I work with is amazing, and I can’t think of a better crew of co-workers. I wanted something that would symbolize this unique and motivating time in my life. I am proud to be part of the team. I now have a reminder that is always going to be a special memory to me. I hope to carry the attitude, motivation and inspiration this company represents with me throughout the rest of my life and career,” said Customer Service Representative Candy Ward.

Bodybuilding.com owner, and CEO Ryan DeLuca, has always made it a precedent to believe in the potential of the company but most of all, his employees. He never thought he would get this kind of thank you in return.

“I’m so proud of our company and the people that are in it. When I first saw these pictures this morning, I’m not going to lie… I got a little emotional. The fact that an employee would tattoo the company logo on themselves means a lot and proves that so much of the hard work so many people put into Bodybuilding.com over the last decade really means something. It means something to our customers. It means something to our hard working team members. We are doing something special here… something that matters. We are doing something unique and innovative that is focused on making the world better for real people,” said DeLuca.

Local Bodybuilder (& BodySpacer!) Hopes to Represent USA

TWENTYNINE PALMS — What began as a way to relieve stress has become much more for Staff Sgt. Xavisus Gayden, a Marine with Headquarters Battalion aboard the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center.

1LvcuOq1rEADzxzYqcbJo2PwWxAF0879.jpeg

“I started lifting weights when I was in Iraq two years ago,” Gayden, who recently competed in his first bodybuilding competitions, said this week. “I just kept doing it because it makes me feel better.”

Gayden, who has served in the Marines for the past 11 years, explained that the weightlifting, and the better eating habits that go with it, have relieved a lot of stress for him.

“I had chronic migraines. I don’t have them as much as I do,” he said. “I used to have chest pains.”

About two months ago, with help from personal trainer Dean Tait, Gayden began taking weightlifting and body building more seriously.

“He told me I had a nice physique and I should look into it. He is a rec assistant at the East Gym on base. I do my workouts on base and at my house,” he said.

That work brought Gayden several awards at his first bodybuilding competitions, National Armed Forces Natural and San Diego Natural in San Diego on Saturday, Sept. 5.

Gayden took second place in the novice tall division and second place in the open tall division at the Armed Forces competition and four place in the open tall division at the Dan Diego competition.

More to the point, he earned an invitation to travel to Australia to represent the United States in a bodybuilding competition, the Natural Olympia, on  Saturday, Oct. 17 on Australia’s gold coast.

Gayden is looking for sponsors to help him pay his travel expenses. He can be reached by e-mail at heatrock29@yahoo.com. More information on his quest can be found online at http://bodyspace.bodybuilding.com/heatrock29.

“I work out every day,” he said, adding that he will take part in a second competition this weekend in Los Angeles.

The hardest part about competing in a bodybuilding competition, Gayden said, was hearing the judge tell him which pose to strike.

“That didn’t really bother me,” he said of standing on stage with next to nothing on. “It comes with the territory. I go all the way when I decide to do something. I don’t half step.”

The Daily Reporter
Coldwater, MI

Coldwater, Mich. -
Friends of Josh Englehart, especially the women, pulled out the centerfold to Men’s Health September edition and marveled at the picture. Someone you know in a major national publication.

“No embarrassment. It’s an accomplishment. It’s something you are ready for when you accept the job,” Englehart said.

The 2000 Coldwater High School graduate’s pictures are in a number of magazines now out including Flex, Ironman, Muscle and Maximum Fitness.

Josh was offered a chance to model after his personal page on Bodybuilding.com was spotted by New York model agent Adam Silver.

This all came about because of two tragedies and a change in life style. In 2001, his best friend since second grade died of an accidental gunshot while drinking. A year later his brother Ryan died from the chronic lung disease cystic fibrosis.

The deaths “made me put a lot of things in perspective that I was doing personally. My best friend was a heavy drinker. My brother was limited with lung disease. I was taking advantage of my body. It gave me motivation to change my life around.”

The complete story appears in the Wednesday, Sept. 2 edition and is available at The Coldwater Daily Reporter.

Hialeah Florida’s Celia Romero Named Bb.com Transformation of the Week

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

CrystalMatthews

Hialeah, FL – September 1, 2009 - Bodybuilding.com, the Internet’s most-visited bodybuilding and fitness site and largest online retailer of nutritional supplements, has named Celia Romero of Hialeah, Florida the Transformation of the Week. Since 2002, Bodybuilding.com has recognized the remarkable dedication it takes to make a truly inspirational transformation, and has made a point to reward those who inspire others.

After many years of being overweight and trying many unsuccessful so-called “shortcuts”, Celia Romero decided it was time to take charge of her life and her body. Maxing out at 180lbs with 24% body fat on her 5’6 frame, she started working out, eating healthy, and set her sights on an upcoming bodybuilding competition to stay motivated. Who would have known she would turn into a fitness role model for so many women out there?

How did Romero do it? She pre-planned her meals in order, so she could eat healthy, frequent meals, and started pushing herself even harder in the gym. With weight training one body part a day and twice-daily cardio sessions, she was able to drop 32lbs and 15% body fat. When returning home on a recent vacation, friends from her past no longer recognized her.

1lgpkk5mFgQvMKm5Fs7wmd4wptzIDD1991.jpeg

“Coming from a Hispanic background, my family likes curves and some meat on their women, not muscles…The main thing you need to tell yourself is that you are doing this for you! No matter what, you cannot please everybody. I love my body now and would not trade it for anything,” says Romero.

For these reasons, Celia Romero has earned the title of Bodybuilding.com Transformation of the Week.
