Well, after a hard earned lesson, I am now back to lifting. A few months ago, I injured a nerve in my arm while trying to lift too heavy. I’m very thankful that the doc thinks the injury will heal over time, and has cleared me to begin lifting again. For the past few weeks I’ve been lifting very light, but now it’s finally time to start lifting heavier again, BUT not to overdo it.

Ok, my pants were too loose, and were not fitting properly anymore, (yes!!), so I headed down to the store for some slimmer slacks… I discovered to my amazement that I now have a 32" waist. :0. Haven’t seen that since high school. :]
The interesting thing is this; during the summer/fall, I was riding my exercise bike 34 miles hard every 3 days. I was also taking on some difficult hikes in the mountains near where I live. Due to poor road conditions on my route, I haven’t been able to ride for around a month, and have been concentrating on lifting more weight instead. It seems like lifting heavier weight has had more of an impact on my waist than heavy cardio did. At any rate, now that the gut is gone, more effort can be applied towards heavy lifting.

Ok, quick summary of what I’m up to.
Currently doing a 2-day split workout, and riding mtn bike on the 3rd day. I’m hitting the mtn bike pretty hard for 34 miles each time, so I might be sacrificing a bit of muscle, but that’s OK with me for the moment, until I can burn off the fat over my abs. When not on the 34 mi ride, I generally hit the stationary bike almost daily, for around a half-hour to an hour.
My goal is to take care of the ab section first, and then start bulking up the upper body. (If any experts out there have suggestions, feel free to let me know. I LOVE feedback!)
This site suggests uploading pics each week, but I think I’ll end up uploading monthly. That way there will be fewer pictures cluttering things up, and the results will (in theory) be more dramatic.
