The Great Roid Debate

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

Another night and another post can you tell that im bored yet but as most of my other post this one is spurred on by todays events. The people at my gym are really starting to get on my nerves, between the accusations and pure ignorance lays me and a few other of the body building ways. The story of today is of accusation but is a rather short one because i stopped it before it got out of hand.

Its chest day and my training partner and i are on the flat bench doing our sets, the problem is that a little while back i put a tear in my rotator cuff and subsequently was not ablt to goes as high on my chest exercises and shoulders, within the same time frame my training partner ripped his chest muscles rather deeply and they took a while to recoperate. As you can see i am drawing a picture that puts our bench press well below what it was at one point in time, to us it was just a natural set back to be over come but to the wankers of the guy (see previous posts) it was a sign of something else. We got through our day and went for the post workout shake and shower, while we were putting our shakes together, 60 gram protien isolate, 10 gram monohydrate, 10 gram glutamine, one of the wanker enters the change room and starts educating us on why supplements are bad for you. The typical argument ensues between us until the accusation, he said to us "well i guess its natural to think supplements arent bad for you after being on steroids". At first this was a complement to me, wow i havent been accused of being on steroids since high school, but than it got out of hand when he started saying that he was going to call the cops on us and all this other shit that wouldnt have made a differance in our lives even if he did follow through on dumb ass threats. We got him to leave, or as some of you would say, we tossed him out, and went back to our business.

The point of this is that i am really starting to realise how little people actually know what they are putting into their bodies and what it does for them. The easy thing to debate here is that supplements are bad for you. The fact of the matter is that as long as you stay within the general outline of how to use them, they will not harm you. Think about, do supplement companies need lawsuits against them, they will tell you how to use the product so that nothing can happen to them and they can gain the most profit that is possible. Even if you hear about a lawsuit against a company you would at least consider not take their product. This i didnt spend to much time on in my mind, it was the steroid accusation that made me think.

Steroid are arguable the safest illegal drug out there. When used properly and with proper counter-effect drugs that can be procured from your doctor legally almost all risk is taken out of the proceedings. This is of course if you are takeing pharmasutical grade drugs, which brings me to another point, the only real reason why steroids are dangerous is because its made in underground labs and so forth when it is also made labritories under safe condisions. Up to this point is what i would think most people would understand so i think im going to stop now. What i am going to say is that is very hard to sway my opinion and that no i have never been on steroids but if i had the opportunity to do them safely i would.

The people that you observe at the gym

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

Over the past few weeks at the gym i have become less self centered and observed many different classes of people who come and work out. Im posting this because i thought a few of you at least would get a kick out of it.

First the Ones being trained: These are the rich people that have decided that they want to get into shape and think that by getting a trainer that they will automatically become the greatest thing to ever walk the face of the earth. of couse there are exceptions to the rule where they actually work hard for the changes and want to learn everything that they can but the vast majority are of the first type.

The cardio Mongers: these are the poeple that ashow up at the gym, both men and women, and do nothing but cardio. They eventually become walking corps and are in my eyes the ugliest people at the gym.

The Female showoffs: These girl show up in the most skintight clothing that you have ever seen. There are two feeling that i have about this, first, leave something to the imagination guys arnt that stupid. second how the ever bloody **** do you train in it, i mean you have to be constricted in at least some ways. To sum up all my feeling for you kind of girl aout there, get out of my gym and wear that stuff where i would actually take notice and initiative. NO seriously get the **** out of my gym if you arnt there to train.

The Wankers: These guys are the equivalnt of the female showoffs but are alot more innoying to me. These guys represent about 90% of all guys in an average gym. These are the guys that weight 130 with abs all year round and have god complexes that can only be trumped by mine, lol. They come in do abs for an hour and a half and when they do decide to do any form of workout, do it in such a way as you can only be astonished by the idiocy of it all. i have observed a caucasian male approx. 5′8" at 140 pounds go to the bench press and put on 315 pounds, my max by the way, having his friend basically dead lift it off the rack for him to which he proceded to lower it 1.5 inchestry and push it back up where his friend completed another dead lift for him and put it back. He than proceeded to get get up and walk as close as he could get to me and in a loud voice say "that wasnt so hard", to which i replied by almost putting a 45 plate into his head before my training partner stopped me, the only time someone has had to forcibly restrain me from hurting another living thing. To this day if he ever sees me in the gym he will ether stay on the other side of the gym or leave. I hate these guys the most.

Now for a change of pace for the good people.

First the people that are trying to be healthy: these are usually the older member of a gym that come regularly and pay there dues both finacially and physically. I have much respect for them because i hope to be one of them someday. i try and train with them on ocassion as well.

The recovery: these are the people that have been injured and are trying to get back to what they were, even though i know they will not remain at the gym i do andmire the determination that they have for striving to remain themselves.

BodyBuilders and powerlifters: The final group of people that are the greats of the greats. The men and women that have made the iron the life style that they have chosen. We are warriors that will never stop til the day that we die and beyond that we have left people to carry on our legacy. If you hear a groan of pain followed by a laugh you may be able to find us but if you arnt one you will never understand what goes though the darkest parts of our minds. I can only hope and pray that one day i will find the female equivalent of myself and i hope that you all find yours.

well everyone those are my basic catigories and i am sure that you can sub-divide them but if i have missed any of them be sure to tell me so that i may make corrections and why dont you also tell me what catigory you fit into!!!
