Ahead of Schedule…YAY!

Monday, February 9th, 2009

This weekend was packed with exciting events.  First, early Saturday morning I left to meet my trainer for my assessment.  I was eager to hear what he had to say and all the advice.  Since I totally pigged out in Vegas, I was wondering if I would show it.  I’ve hit the training hard, and I wasn’t feeling like I totally blew it from the vacation splurge.  We started with posing and doing the quarter turns.  I’m rusty on the posing since it’s been awhile.  Plus, he had me holding my posing a little differently than my last coach.  I’m all fired up now, because he told me that I’m ahead of schedule for August.  He said I put on size and look leaner than the last time he saw me. (This was a little less than a month ago.)  RIGHT ON!  I have maybe about 6 weeks of my bulking diet.  I’ll have my calories taken up a little the end of this month.  So, I have to enjoy the cheats while I have them on schedule.   He talked about my future plans for competing, and I have to admit, it makes me nervous.  I won’t go into details now, but I will as it all unfolds.   My husband and daughters are the most supportive, and encouraging “team” I have.  But now, I have a coach that believes in me and thinks I can go far in this sport.  He is truly a fantastic role model for the fitness industry.  Our next meeting we’re having a posing clinic.  I’m looking forward to getting back into focus with that and seeing the team again.
The other exciting event was my daughter’s cycling race.  He season just started up again, and it’s great seeing her out there.  She’s a strong rider, and I think she can do some damage this year at Nationals.  He coach is very similar to mine.  She’s the best cycling coach you can find.  She always has a positive outlook on the sport, and will guild you in the right direction.  Not just for the next weekend’s race, but she implements the plans for my daughter’s future in the sport.  Everything from how you present yourself at races, how you talk to the public, interviews, blogs, etc. it all reflects on your image as an athlete.
The final exciting event was today.  We finally got the rest of the popcorn texture scraped off of our ceiling.  The next process is to texture the ceiling with the knockdown finish.  YAY!  Before we bought this house, I had my heart set on this cute little 1920’s Bungalow home.  It was a fixer upper, but it had so much character.  As we renovate this house, I’m so thankful we didn’t purchase the 1920’s home.  It would have been taken us forever to get that thing up to standard.  I still love those old homes, and perhaps later on in life as we work with this house, we’ll gain knowledge on renovations to brave the task of a classic home.  But for now, I’m enjoying my new kitchen and the will look forward to the rest of the remodeling.
Training today was good.  I did back, abs, and cardio.  I’m holding my contractions on the each rep.  You can really feel the burn in your muscles, and it helps keep me focused on strict form.  Tomorrow I’m training quads.  Time certainly goes by quickly when you live the days of the week according to your training schedule.  Last time I did trained quads was last Monday, and it took me half a week to finally recover from it.  My training schedule will be switched up once more towards the end of this month.

Sore From Head to Toe…LOVE IT!

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

My program has changed to a 5 days on, 2 days off.  My body is finished in 6 days.  So, I start where I left off the previous week.  I have been sore all week.  Monday was leg day, and I immediately felt sore yesterday.  My butt is feeling it!  After doing legs, coach has me doing 10 minutes of heavy resistance on the stepper.  Yesterday was chest day.  And today I trained bi’s, abs, and another 10 minutes heavy resistance on the stepper.  I know I’m targeting my weak zones, and I can’t wait to “unveil” the work once it’s time for contest prep.  Dieting down is always tough, but to see the transformation is worth it.

I meet with my trainer this Saturday.  We’ll sit down and check out the show schedule.  For now, we’re shooting for an August show and 2 others.  I think it’ll be in September, and October.

Coming home from vacation has been an adjustment.  Eating clean is okay, but eating 8 meals a day has been difficult.  Some days I feel very hungry, and eating 8 meals is no big deal.  Than other days, I’m stuffed, and I’m forcing myself to get my meals in.  Today I got in my cheat meal.  It was one of those days I just didn’t feel hungry.  I didn’t have a clue what to eat.  I ended up going to Wendy’s.   I was kind of in the mood for something sweet, but nothing came to mind.

It’s a busy schedule in my house right now.  My kitchen remodeling is just about finished.  We just have to finish the painting.  But we’ll be onto our next project shortly after.  This is pretty much the rest of the house.  The ceiling texturing will be the next step.  My oldest daughter started her race season, so we’re traveling throughout the state every weekend.  My youngest still does gymnastics 3x a week, and will be competing in the fall.  With all that going on, my family is the most supportive team ever!  So for all the competitors out there, don’t take your family for granted.  They are your biggest supporters.

My diet thus far has been light…carb wise.  With my previous trainer, for my off season bulk, I was put on a high carb diet.  I did grow, but unfortunately, I also put on excess body fat.  This diet, however, is a high protein, moderate carbs.  The carbs are strategically placed during my day.  I have no carbs on my cheat days, Wednesday and Saturday.  There are times I feel like, “Yeah!  I’m putting on some size!”  Then I stepped on the scale and my weight dropped to 136 today.  What a mind trip.  I’m eager to get my assessment from coach.

Until then…Keep training hard!
