So yay, it’s 2009- the time for new year resolutions and personal goals. We have the next 20 days to solidify good habits and dispel the skeptism that lurks in our minds and in other’s minds that our goals are just a pipe dream. We can do this!

Recently, my mom and I watched a documentary about a woman torso who cooked dinner, took care of her dad and brother, worked as a mechanic, had a baby and seemed to be a neverending faucet of wisdom. She conquered so many obstacles in her way- daily. I’m telling you she was just a torso- no legs, no perceivable abdomen (it was pushed up). Can you imagine just making the daily grind happen with that much physical disability? Shoot, we have it so lucky and bitch and moan about how hard it is to obtain our goals.

It’s not hard. Let’s just do it. Let’s ride 2009 like a skeleton horse through the gates of hell.

The difference between a dream and a goal is ACTION.

It’s funny (and sad) how many people discourage others from their truest desires by trying to be ‘realistic’ and protecting people from failure. The greatest learning comes through failure. Like Kennedy said, only those who dare to fail greatly will ever achieve greatly.

For me, I’m doing a Thoreau and going confidently in the direction of my dreams and living the life I’ve imagined. To manifest my goals/dreams, I’ve been accomplishing a lot of tangible things to display my determination. It’s true that willpower begets willpower.

1. I’m now a vegetarian.
2. I’ve lost 25 lbs.
3. I’ve been working out 6x a week.
4. I’ve been eating a BFL diet.
5. I’ve learned to FLY by staying committed to cleaning routines.

So when my mother says it’s unrealistic of me to do what I really want to do for a living, it really disheartens me and makes me mope… until I remember the things above. It’s my wish for whoever reads this to believe that you can achieve anything you set your mind to- and go out and do it. Let’s prove all our moms wrong.

5. Never look in the direction of a cop as you’re driving past.

It’s been a terrible week. Maybe I shoulda known since I’m now almost officially over the 30 hump. Birthdays seem to bring out the best and the worst or in my case, just the worst of the worst. The dmv managed to screw up my registration by putting someone else’s tickets and excise taxes on my account, totalling over $800. While I wait for them to clear the issue and retrieve the paperwork my registration expires and I get a $100 ticket. Bossman piles on 3 priority projects due this week then acts up when the low priority projects are pushed back. But the worst part is despite sampling many different scales (and following the BFL plan religiously) I have gained weight.

Yours truly,

Super stressed

My cravings these past two weeks have provided me with astounding creativity when it comes to creating meals on restricted "healthy" ingredients. For instance, I would have never combined guacamole and egg whites. I think desperation is the key to concocting masterpieces.

However! Last night I had a run in with THE most disgusting muffin ever- the sweet potato muffin. I confess, I believe I made some major no-nos on this recipe. I had to have! It tasted like stale monkey poop.

No-no #1: I didn’t peel the sweet potatoes. BIG MISTAKE. I picked out most of the skin, but I believe the remaining skin lended a don’t-bother-chewing-just-swallow-it texture.

No-no #2: I didn’t flour the oatmeal. I think I was s’pose to blend this before mixing because it also highly contributed to the corregated cardboard chunkiness.

So with a little encouragement from a friend on here, I decided resolutely that I would take and post progress pictures! The only set back is that I put my camera in my desk drawer and all of a sudden the drawer started sticking and no amount of hurculean effort could free it. I know because I sicced my man-friend on the dirty bastid.

After researching how to pick locks and making a few futile attempts, I dug up a hammer and crowbar and went berserk. It felt good defeating my snotty bitch desk! So yes, I scored a camera, squeezed into my old bikini and snapped away. Excitedly, I copied them to the computer, anticipating big changes. I opened each and studied the pictures pixel by pixel…

And man, what a let down! Given these pictures are only two weeks apart, I don’t see any real noticeable progress - so er, I’m not posting my fat ass on here… yet. I wish I had taken pictures of me at my heaviest. But like all heavy people, pics tend to be avoided at all costs, right?

Till next time!

I feel so DUH for being overwhelmed in my joy and racing to lift it. My first spin on that machine feels like air swimming.

Needless to say, I’m in pain but I found a nice site to help me treat the symptoms. I’m worried about missing my training for a few days, though, because I’ve been seeing a lot of progress being on the Body for Life program. Just in two weeks I’ve reduced my body fat by 2.5% and my weight by 7.5 lbs. This is with eating cheese curls and pizza on my free day! LOL, life is great.

P.S. I’ll be posting progress pictures soon!
