Going to Arnold Expo!

Saturday, February 2nd, 2008

Woo hoo! I am finally going! I’m going to attend the Arnold Expo this year!!! So looking forward to everything there.

Changed up my workouts. Going heavier, doing 3 sets with waiting about a minute in between sets. Have been (more) sore than normal, but that’s great!

Not doing HIIT cardio, but keeping up my running (something that’s important to me).

I convinced myself to refuse to weigh myself on the scale… looking forward to the progress I’m going to make this time around.

Others at work have been inspired by my progress; others have asked me about exercise and eating habits- so glad some have jumped on the band wagon of fitness; eating healthier and lifting weights. Glad I’m making a difference and an impact.

Going to work on the visualization part; my mind needs to catch up with my body about becoming healthier!

Enjoy your weekend!

Health and blessings,

Sarah

2008 Goals and Declarations

Sunday, January 6th, 2008

Ok, I am doing this to help myself. The outside is changing physically, but I have to do something to help the inside change (how I see/view myself).

I started reading BFFM and I am going to incorporate this added dimension into my lifestyle. Here I go!

I am so thankful that I am a female bodybuilder.

I am losing 8% body fat and reaching my goal weight of 140 lbs and my goal body fat of 15% by July 1, 2008.

I am fitting into size 8 jeans by late March 08 and looking so good in them that when I wear them, I leave others in shock! ;p

I am a fitness mag success story!

I am learning enough about my body, diet, and exercise that I am easily staying within 2-3 lbs of my optimal body weight for the rest of my life!

I am celebrating the New Year of 2009 with clearly visible abs!

Needing help with mental hurdles

Sunday, January 6th, 2008

It’s been awhile since I’ve been able to update on here.

I need to take measurements again and progress pics too.

Noticing legs and stomach/ab area looking leaner than they were a few months ago. Not lean enough, still have to drop body fat tho.

Got my body fat taken using the 9 point system (using calipers). Wondering how accurate it was. (my muscles were tight from working out and I was sweaty from a cardio work out). Dropped down to 23.5%. Considering I was 33.3% Jan 06, that’s not bad at all; but was hoping to drop down to nearly 20%. Hey, it’s progress, and I am headed in the right direction.

Since the gym I use closed because of Christmas break (university), used a 2 week trial at Aspen in Tulsa. Nice change up from what I’m used to (college kids working out b/c they ‘have to.’)

Been doing more cardio as well. In addition to lifting 3 days a week, I’ve added 45-1 hr of cardio after lifting. Also do cardio the other three days a week (50 min to 1 hr). Ranges from running on treadmill or track to elliptical, riding bike, or stair stepper. Still like to mix in high intensity interval training.

Have a more challenging time working out after work (I work EARLY mornings). I’m hungry by the time I hit the gym.

My appetite seems to be increasing as well…

Lipo 6 was a great extra energy boost for working out (especially when I’m tired after I get off work- I HAVE to have my workout stuff together or it gets hard to work out b/c I’m hungry and tired). Rise above it!

Still have challenges with how I see myself. Even though I’ve dropped body fat and scale weight, I still see myself as being unhealthy and overweight. I’m not nearly as big as I used to be, but I need to CHANGE this challenge I have somehow. Any ideas please…?!

Made weight at MEPS

Friday, December 7th, 2007

I did it! I busted my bum on the cardio the last several days (run and elliptical and bike in AM on empty stomach) as well as meticulously watching my eating. NO salt whatsoever either.
Didn’t eat until after the weigh in. Recruiter wanted me AT LEAST to get to 163. Well, I weighed in at 159.7; okay, 160! I felt so great!
Now to keep this up! Woo hoo!!!

MEPS and AFOQT

Monday, December 3rd, 2007

Going to OKC this week for my physical and for taking exam to become an officer in the USAF.

About 2-3 months ago, some co-workers mentioned that I looked good; kinda hinting/trying to find out if I was going to stop there (where I was physically). I was then (during that time) considered ‘average’  physically for a woman in the US. It is really something for others to mention that I look good; but why should I stop there? Why be average!?!?!!

I don’t want to be average or status quo, I truly believe there is always room for improvement.

Lately, I’ve been working on TRYing to drop WEIGHT. I don’t normally go by weight, or scale at all, but I have to meet the requirements for the USAF by the time I go to BOT (Basic Officers Training). I need to drop to 160.

I am currently at 166lbs as of Saturday, Dec 1. I have lost inches, but the scale hasn’t really moved significantly.

Been going back and forth thinking I should forego lifting for awhile (but that’s a no-no b/c I’d lose muscle- the good stuff!) and I don’t want to do that.

Looking to get my body fat measured at the beginning of the year.

Will try and post more often (and keep updated on the site).

Came across Ell Darden’s HIT book about a month or so ago. Trying it out. Just wondering what success others have had with his program.

New work/out schedule

Monday, July 9th, 2007

More and more peeps noticing every day the progress I’m making. This makes it especially notable since I work with the public on a daily basis.
My work schedule has changed up. I now get up by 2am…. get off work around 12:30pm. This’ll be a different change up (working out after work).
Proud that I kept my word to myself during the crazy split shift I did for these last couple months. I knew it was a sacrifice for me to be able to keep up my workouts. I did it!!! Even though I drove over 300 miles a week and paid more $ for gas, I got in my workouts and my eating as well.
Wondering about competing in bb. I am wondering how long it would take me to prep for a comp. Would def like to do it tho.
Shoulder’s better now- I pinched a nerve and had to ease up on my workouts.
Needing to take progress pics soon….. Looking forward to it.

Need to tighten up on my eating

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2007

Got to get even tighter on my eating. My goal in this next 12 week challenge is to lose 5% bf. I believe it’s doable. I’ve changed up my workouts, lifting heavier with less reps and splitting up the days I work different muscle groups.
