Set backs…. need some HELP PLEASE!

Still at tech school for military training. A 30 yr old female going enlisted w/a Master’s degree…. what was I thinking?!?! I’m going to change up once I get back to my Guard base in OK. Going to switch over to AD and become a chaplain (I meet all the requirements). I’m surviving living in barracks with young 19 and 21yr olds (Air Force) on a Navy base in S. Cali….. quite interesting though I’ll admit.

Was diagnosed with tendonitis in my feet (pretty sure it’s due to the combat boots which kill my feet). Dr. said my feet are collapsing  : (

Especially mornings were the worst, could hardly walk, but hobble around…. started learning stretches for the plantar fascia… Military paid recently for me to see a foot dr off base, which I was made foot inserts specifically for my feet.

Have been on a waiver this last month and a half and was not allowed to do any PT (physical training)…. sad to say I gained a couple pounds (about 5).

Just got the foot inserts yesterday and they help a lot-   I’m not able to run yet with them, but currently I do HIIT cardio at least 3-4 days a week (for at least 20 min) and moderate cardio everyday if not doing HIIT cardio and lift every day (usually alternate UB and LB with abs).

Where I gained the most is in my thighs and butt… any suggestions for inner thigh exercises would be greatly appreciated as the Navy gym base is limited on it’s weight equipment (and my knees aren’t the greatest).

The problem is that I was eating bigger portion sizes (almost as if I was working out still). Galley food/ the chow hall isn’t always the best for eating either.

I eat old fashioned oatmeal in the am with stevia, and a serving of flax seed oil, and 2 egg whites or 1 whole egg. Next meal is 1 Tbsp. natural pb with a stalk of celery, sometimes with an apple or a boiled egg white. Sometimes I eat a piece of fruit (usually an apple) with one scoop of whey protein (make sludge).

For lunch I have a salad with several slices of cumcumber, a scoop of cottage cheese (not always available) and onion slices, with a scoop of croutons. I have either a serving of fish or protein (options are limited) and then I eat a small bowl of fruit.

Next snack is 3 oz can of albacore tuna with a piece of fruit (near 3pm). I’m consuming 16 cups (1 gallon) of water a day.

I go workout near 6:30pm, then consume a protein bar with water for my last meal (the chow hall closes earlier), and I’d rather workout on an empty stomach (esp for the cardio).

My plan is that I am doing cardio every day…. I’m thinking stair stepper is great especially for the legs and butt. I currently do my cardio then lift.

I’m determined not to let my ‘lack of progress’ get me down. It just shows me that no one is exempt from getting out of shape. My goal is to drop body fat first and foremost- gaining muscle along with doing cardio and eating small meals is the key I believe.

I have a month before I leave to go back to OK. Four weeks to drop fat to where I was before the foot problems started…. Is it do-able?

Any advice, suggestions, or tips are greatly appreciated PLEASE.
