TIP #33... GO @ YOUR OWN PACE
SO I KEEP A WORKOUT JOURNAL AND TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH I’M ABOUT TO KEEP A FOOD JOURNAL. THE REASON I’M TELLING YOU TO GO AT YOUR OWN PACE IS THAT WILL KEEP YOU FROM INJURY AND WILL KEEP YOU HONEST WITH YOURSELF. I RECALL WHEN I FIRST GOT TO THE GYM MAYBE 7 MONTHS NOW. THERE WAS THIS GUY WHO STILL WORKS OUT THERE AND HE’S ABOUT MY HEIGH BUT SKINNY. I WAS CHUNKIER AT THAT TIME SO YOU KNOW MOST PEOPLE CONCEPT IF YOUR BIG YOU CAN LIFT BIG WEIGHT. LOL I WAS BENCHING WITH DBs ONLY AT THAT TIME, BECUASE I WANTED TO BE STRONG ON BOTH SIDES 35LBS DBs.
NOW I REMEMBER THIS BECAUSE UNTIL THIS DAY HE’S STILL DOING THE SAME WEIGHT AND I HAVE SURPASSED HIM. HE WAS DOING THE 70LB DBs WITH NO SPOT. I WAS LIKE GOT DAMN HEs STRONG. HAD I BEEN LIKE MOST PEOPLE THOUGH AND TRY TO COMPETE I WOULD HAVE INJURED MYSELF. FAST FORWARD MONTHS LATER I’M AT THE 100 PLUS ON DBs 8-10 REPS BY MYSELF AND HE’S STILL AT THE SAME WEIGHT. I’M NOT SAYING THIS TO BRAG OR COMPARE MYSELF TO HIM, BUT I FIND IT FUNNY SOMETIMES I NOTICE IF PEOPLE SEE YOU LIFTING HEAVY WEIGHTS THEY WILL TRY TO DO THE SAME. SO GO AT YOUR OWN PACE PEOPLE IT WILL PAYOFF IN THE LONG RUN. YOU REDUCE THE CHANCE OF INJURY, YOUR PRIDE WON’T BE DIMINISHED AND YOU WILL BE HAPPIER THAT YOU WERE ABLE TO MOVE FORWARD…
