A motivational speech/Dear Self type deal
Sunday, March 22nd, 2009I was thinking about how many social gatherings I have been to lately and thinking about how many empty calories I’ve consumed. I looked around and saw plenty of thin people gorging and thought, "Heck, I’m thin, too, so if I gorge, no one is going to think negative thoughts. In fact, the only person who is probably even paying attention to my gorging is ME! Gorge away, self! MMMM, this is GOOD, is it NOT?!"
Then, I had an enlightening thought.
This enlightening thought was actually quite obvious, but it was consoling to me. It went something like this:
"Self, those people are not bodybuilders. YOU ARE. They do not have aspirations to make it into a fitness-related magazine. YOU DO. You don’t even care if your picture is in the bottom left hand corner on the second to last page in an advertisement no one cares about — you just want to be IN ONE! THEY DON’T. YOU want to win or at least place in a bodybuilding competition; THEY don’t even KNOW what it takes to DO THAT. YOU are a personal trainer and most of the time, you practice what you preach. That’s what makes you good. THEY are NOT trying to show others how to be healthy; YOU ARE. They may not even CARE about their health, but YOU DO. They are not going to be striking poses in tank tops, short shorts, and bikinis; YOU ARE. SO… do NOT hold YOURSELF to the same standards THEY might hold THEMSELVES to, because YOU are NOT THEM! If you want to DO THIS, you know what you need to do to get there. If you don’t have it in you to achieve these goals; that’s ok, too… but… if you don’t, then, give up and find another passion.
The latter choice is NOT an option for me… therefore… I WILL do what it takes and I will ROCK IT!
