I’ve never been one who is scared to experiment with my diet. That said, the past few days I have been on a raw food kick. Lots of salad, raw nuts and avocado’s, juices…this mornings breakfast was kale/grapefruit juice! I’ve always been drawn to the idea of raw foods, just like I’m drawn to vegetarian and vegan diets. I don’t know where it will lead, but if anything, I’m hoping to add a few more fresh veggies (and fruit) to my diet, try a few things that I normally wouldn’t consider and just give my body a change and break from the usual.

After a nice weekend, I’m dreading work this morning. I am feeling a bit more positive and ready for the week ahead though. I was feeling negative and discouraged over the weekend but I think I’ve got my head turned around straight again and I’m ready to go. I’m trying to stay focused on my goals and keep my attention on the journey, not the destination. I’m ready to put in the work to get me there though!
That said, it is time to pack up my meals for the day.

Sometimes I feel like I have multiple fitness personalities. Somedays I’m a bodybuilder, others I’m a runner, a yogi, or a rock climber. But I am constantly amazed by the diversity among members of BodySpace. I find so much motivation and inspiration from the people here who come in so many shapes and sizes, different backgrounds and careers, a variety of goals and lifestyles…all working towards a common wish for a strong, muscular body and superior health and wellness, and an opportunity to learn and inspire each other. Just wanted to say thanks.

Just posted "progress" pics for the first time in about 10 months. Funny though, there isn’t any progress to speak of. Pictures don’t lie and I’m pretty disgusted and disappointed. It is a huge reality check. I’m not going to settle for mediocre or for "skinny-fat". This means war!

No change from last week, at least where the scale is concerned. That is okay. I know I worked hard and am making progress even though it is not being reflected on the scale. My updated goal is to be at 130lbs by February 20th, which is four weeks away from today. But I really want to see some more muscle. If I can keep putting on some muscle and work to keep my bodyfat down, I will be a happy camper!!

Why is it that whenever you get super motivated and are getting your groove back, you get sick or injured? I have another cold. The second one in four months! I know it is cold/flu season but the last one kicked my ass so bad, I figured I didn’t deserve another for a couple of years! I have horrible sinuses so everytime I get what should be a minor head cold, I feel like my head is going to explode. So I’m home resting this afternoon. Going the holistic route first. Lots of water and tea, garlic/bean soup, hot bath, staying warm and just taking it easy in general. I’ve got a great weekend coming up so if the holistic stuff doesn’t work, I will have to go the DayQuil route tomorrow. Needless to say. No leg/glute workout today. It’s the couch, computer, HGTV workout today.

Time to get back in the game! I’ve made some changes to my program to reflect some new priorities. I’ve become a yoga nut! I can’t get enough. My flexibility and posture has improved so much. Plus, it does wonders for my anxiety and stress. I’ve also started indoor rock climbing again. A new climbing gym opened in my community late fall so I’ve been trying to climb at least once a week. And of course, running. I took several months off last fall so I’m pretty much starting over from scratch. I am considering a spring half-marathon though…
I am still trying to define my goals for the year. More muscle, less fat, blah, blah, blah. Same old stuff.

Last week I caught the cold from hell. I’ve missed two days of work, spent an entire beautiful weekend on the couch or in bed, haven’t worked out in days…and I still feel like crap. Lucky for me, I don’t get sick very often since becoming a vegetarian, but when I do, boy, I’m out for days!
The only bright side I can see is that I’ve had some time to study for my personal trainer certification and have spent time redesigning my training plan and assessing my goals. I haven’t been real diligent in the past few months so maybe something good will come out of feeling so bad!

I turn 31 tomorrow. Physcially, I’m not where I had hoped to be but I’m not super unhappy with myself either. I haven’t been working as hard as I could have in the past few month. I let the ususal excuses…family, kids, soccer, work…run my life. However, as I contemplate the coming, and going, of another year, I can’t help but begin to want to make this next year really great. So, I am going to spend some time today planning some new goals, redesign my workouts, assess my meal plans and just get focused. I’d really like to take my health and fitness to the next level!

13.1 miles 2:00:26 52/155 female age group
Finished my second ever half-marathon on Friday, July 4th. Was pleased with the results though I was really hoping to finish in under two hours. Imagine…26 seconds over. It was a great run and I feel good. No complaints post run. Except for a few blisters. My next challenge is this coming Saturday when I will run a 15k challenge. I am really going to push myself on this on and see what I’m made of!
