2 weeks of eating clean! Wooo Hooo!!!

14 days straight with no cheats….not even any protein bars or cookies. I am so proud of myself. I had several temptations of this weekend (bakery items, hot chips, calamari etc) but I stood my ground and I feel FANTASTIC!!

I’ve lost weight too. My trainer and I want me to diet down to see where I need to work on most and then I will begin a 5-6 month ‘bulking’ phase. I’ve never really eaten more to purposely put on weight so am not sure how i will go with it, mentally speaking. I will be ok I think if I don’t put on too much body fat. I don’t want to have two wardrobes (one for off season and one for on season)

what have other women experienced with ‘bulking’?? i’m keen to hear feedback, anecdotes, ideas, thoughts…

i had a crappy day but am still happy!

11 days straight of eating clean even after a crap day!! i am stoked!

every day i find myself looking forward to my chicken, sweet potato and vegies, my protein shakes and my almonds. :)

…although my workout was really light today. had very little energy. hope that changes tomorrow.

ok, so i FINALLY got over the mental hump and made it through a weekend without cheating. 100% clean diet. But I’ve left it so late that now I’ll have to eat clean through my birthday!

:( kinda sux but I did it to myself. I have a new protein bar at home that I’m going to treat myself to after 6 weeks of nonstop clean eating! CAN’T WAIT!!! lol. (it looks REEEEEALY delicious)

yey, i did it!

i got through the whole weekend without cheating on my diet!!!! a huge thing for me and now that i’ve done it once, it seems easier. what was i fretting about before??

i feel great. i was even out for most of the weekend which forced me to prep and pack an entire days food to take with me. i’m so happy!

training is going well although i’ve stopped PT with my local trainer. i’m trying to go as hard as i would if she were there but i know i won’t be able to all the time because she would always help with the last few reps if i needed it.

went to a bodybuilding show yesterday and i’ve been reinspired and shown that i’ve got a long way to go. eek! a couple of the girls were totally ripped. when i do a show i want to look like i belong so that in itself is making me work harder.

i really dont’ want to look like a ‘try hard’ up there.

Bring on the rest of the week (and the weekend. lol) i’m happy and smiling

Worked biceps and triceps today. They felt really tight afterwards. AWESOME!! and hours later when I got a minute alone in front of the mirror there they were BICEPS!! I still can’t see them when i’m relaxed but when I flex……i’m really happy.

Now that I can actually SEE growth I’m even more determined than ever for the rest of me to grow.

I can feel my quads are really tight (fantastic) and my triceps are going well, I just still have lots of body fat to lose. My recent binging is probably catching up with me but I’m back on track and said No to a party on Friday and will only be at my brother-in-law’s 40th party for a little while.

I’m heading to a comp on Sunday to get extra motivation as well. So can’t wait for that. It’s been ages since I’ve been to a bodybuilding comp.

new path!!

the last couple of weeks have really been on and off, especially with my diet but i’m starting anew tomorrow.

this will be my program for the next 3 months of winter here in beautiful Australia :)

WORKOUTS

6 DAY SPLIT

Each body part once a week

3-4 exercises per body part

8-10 rep range (max) heavy weight

I will still throw in some supersets (i love them! also a good time saver)

I’ll be doing less cardio than ususal too. Probably 30-45 minutes of cardio per day.

 

NUTRITION

I’m going to increase my carbs before and straight after my workouts.

MEAL 1  - Carb Shake OR WPI shake with a small banana

‘workout’

MEAL 2  - Carb Shake OR WPI and two weetbix

MEAL 3  - 120g chicken, 100g sweet potato, 80g vegies

MEAL 4  - 120g chicken, 60g sweet potato, 80g vegies

MEAL 5  - WPI shake and 10-15 almonds

MEAL 6  - Fish and vegies OR omelette OR eye fillet and vegies

MEAL 7  - WPI shake (on water)

All shakes are on water. Will swap sweet potato with 1/3 cup basmati rice occasionally.

 

That’s how it stands right now. I’ve never really experimented with training heavier or changing my diet. But I REALLY want to put on some lean muscle. I can see some minor changes and I WANT MORE!!! And am happy to put on a little weight over winter and then strip off some fat when it starts to get warmer.

what bingeing can do

i’ve had a bad couple of days…mcdonalds, nando’s… :( they tasted great at the time but yesterday……

i had a chicken pesto turkish bread at lunch with a mud cake slice (w a scoop of icecream), then a dark chocolate Cherry Ripe in the afternoon…. then for dinner I ate 180g block of fruit and nut dark chocolate, then….. i had mcdonalds and then 2 freddo frogs!!!!!!!!!!!

needless to say i didn’t feel great when i went to bed. my brain wouldn’t switch off and i couldnt’ focus on any one thought. I also felt like my heart was beating out of my chest (felt like it was in my throat too) felt AWFUL!!!!!

This morning I had my training session and got that feeling again. I felt like I was going to throw up my heart was beating so hard. I DID NOT FEEL GOOD!!!

I still enjoyed my session but boy, i paid for my huge binge! NEVER AGAIN!! I can’t believe I ate all that crap. It was like once I started I couldn’t stop even though I KNEW it would make me feel sick afterwards. Not good.

Today i’m back on track. Even managed to say No to free food as well.

I must organise my kitchen this weekend and get back on track.  I plan to spend the winter months on a slightly different diet because I really want to put on some more muscle. I really want to buy an extra freezer too. I like to buy in bulk but the fridge freezer is too small. Will go shopping this weekend :)

 

i know regular people will think i’m crazy….

but i’m so excited that i’ve hit a new PB on Deadlifts!!!!!! :)

65kg (includes the 20kg bar)

prior to 10 weeks ago i’d never even attempted this exercise and when i did i was dead scared because of previous problems with my lower back.

next week i’m going to try 70kg! yey!!!!!

Advice please!

Over the winter months I’d like to work hard at putting on as much lean muscle mass as I can.

My plan so far is to lift heavy (8 or so reps). Should I do 3 sets or 4 sets of each exercise??

I’m going to do my best to keep my diet clean but increase the carbs a little, especially before and after workout.

Any thoughts or anecdotes I can work from?

I really want some new workout clothes. Some of my current ones are size 12 (aussie size) and although I can still wear them ultimately they are too big and plus the constant sweat and washing is degrading them.

I really want some new workout clothes to help pick me up as well. I’ve been floundering lately and I know some new stuff will ‘refresh’ me somehow and what girl doesn’t like shopping?? ;)
