QUESTION

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

How does everyone flavour their boring grilled chicken, rice and vegies??? I’m looking for new flavours, ideas, thoughts… Can anyone help??

diet dramas

Sunday, September 21st, 2008

Well, I fell off the food wagon on the weekend. Had a dinner party and I caved in. :(

I don’t seem to do well when I have no structure in my day. During the week I do really well because everything is timed but on the weekends I never know where I’m going to be or when. It’s so up in the air. Plus I seem to get hungry on cue during the week but I don’t feel hunger on weekends. How odd!!

Must set some sort of routine to follow for weekends. :)

Day 5

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

What a dud of a morning. Forgot to finish my assignment (due tonight) so had to skip workout. :( BUT will just be moving it to Saturday morning. Must get myself a bit better organised.

This week has been ok. Am looking forward to next week and hoping I’ll have some more strength. Have lost alot in my back so will focus a lot there as well.

I have a party on Saturday night and already know that I wont’ cheat on my diet. It’s funny. I still want that chocolate icecream but saying no and understanding why is alot easier. I think I’m finally at the right stage mentally to succeed. :) V happy about that.

Day 4

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

Another day.. I’m disappointed in myself a bit but I guess I shouldn’t be. After 3 months off I should realise that I’m not going to be able to lift as heavy or run as far as before but it’s still frustrating! My mind and body are at odds.

Did 35 minutes cardio this morning and will be doing Back and Abs tonight. (first ab workout was the other day and since then I have to brace myself every time I cough or sneeze. lol)

Hope everyone has a fabulous Wednesday. :)

Day 3

Monday, September 15th, 2008

Did my shoulders this morning and am so much weaker after 3 months of no exercise due to my bad lower back. :( Hopefully I’ll get it back quickly.

Question: I eat chicken with some basmati rice and vegies about 2 or 3 times a day. How does everyone flavour their meals so they are not boring but don’t have too much salt or calories????? Desperate for ideas.

Thanks to anyone who can help me with this. :)

Day 2

Sunday, September 14th, 2008

Hello all!! I love this site! I keep seeing the most amazing women well over 40 who look INCREDIBLE!! My goal is to be fit and fab at 40.

Day 2 is going great. Did a spin class this morning (first one I’ve done in probably a year). Felt great. Then went onto to do chest and abs. Tried incline ab crunch for first time ever today. Whoa is it difficult!

Does anyone have any advice on abdominal work. I suffer from a bad lower back as well which I have to watch. Last time I hurt it I had a pinched nerve and was numb down my right leg for over 2 weeks. Not good.

Well, tomorrow is shoulders (my favourite) and I’m going to give HIIT a go. Wish me luck. :)

Official Day 1

Saturday, September 13th, 2008

Today was what I consider my first offical day. I’ve reorganised my schedule. I’m going to do a 6 day weight split and do cardio at least 5 times a week. As I work full time and study at night I’ll be doing both together in the morning. I always do better training in the morning.

I did quads again and already I think my recovery time is quicker. I feel FANTASTIC! I really feel like I’m going to succeed this time. I’ve passed two food/drink temptations already (I would have given in even a few months ago) Plus this site is a huge motivational help to me.

I’ve posted my first pics. OMG you can’t hide in photos but at least I can see what my reality is and how much work I have to do. The way I am now is all my own doing. I embrace that and accept it and am really ready to move forward.

I’ve had PT before and read alot of fitness mags but If anyone has any pieces of advice on training, nutrition, motivation etc please feel free to drop me a line. Keep smiling :)

Week 1 Post Mortem

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

Well it’s the end of Week 1 (almost) and I’m disappointed in myself. After working my quads on Monday (after no weight training for over 3 months) I was so sore and didn’t do any other training this week. :( HOWEVER, I have not cheated on my diet at all even after a work colleague bought a Shingle Inn chocolate cake for everyone (Shingle Inn make the BEST cakes anywhere!) I was decidedly proud of myself. It’s usually the other way around. I usually never skip training (coz I love it) but cheat on my diet. Funny that! Let’s call Week 1 Prep Week. Next Monday will be the real beginning. lol

Tomorrow will be a bigger test for me than the cake. A friend is leaving to live in Melbourne so we are having a picnic and our picnics are famous for way too much food and plenty of vino. Will have to prep my own food tonight and be strong! Will keep you posted on how I go.

Also I’ll be posting photos this weekend. That’ll be a huge step too coz I’m not happy with how I look right now and posting them will be difficult but also empowering (I hope).

Support, feedback, ideas, anecdotes always welcome. Keep smiling :)

Blog Entry

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

Although my friends and family are supportive several have expressed that they don’t find the look I want ‘attractive’ (ps. I want to look like Jamie Eason, strong, muscular, feminine) But that’s them and this is for me. Besides, I know when I start to make gains that they’ll definately be a little jealous. ;) So here’s to the journey.

All support, encouragement, ideas, thoughts are welcome. I will be posting progress pics regularly to keep me motivated. But I must admit that I already miss beer and dark chocolate. :)

The Beginning

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

Day 1. I started out on Day 1 doing 45 minutes of cardio on an empty stomach and then after work I trained my quads. Since I havent’ done any weight training or cardio in over 3 months I felt really weak. (I have been suffering from a bad back and pinched nerves so was forced to take some time off)

Day 2. OMG!!! I am alot sorer than expected. I have been hobbling around all day and looking for support whenever I have to sit down or go up and down stairs. lol. Because of this I didn’t do any other training today. I’m disappointed in myself but will make up for it. (promise)

I am looking forward to getting through the first week and will post again then. If anyone has any advice I am always on the lookout.

Keep smiling :)
