| As gas prices soar, thieves grow more brazen |
|
It’s not just drive-offs — crooks targeting individual cars with siphons, drills
By: Roger Holloway, Private Investigator
Individual vehicles increasingly targeted
But with the average price of a gallon of gas having more than doubled in the last two years, thieves are branching out. Across the country, drivers are waking up to find their gas caps pried open and their tanks dry.
While there are no national statistics yet tracking an increase in gas thefts, police across the country say they’re investigating more reports than ever before:
Using an empty gas can and a siphon, thieves were able to suck 30 gallons of diesel from a bus in a parking lot.
In Beaver Dam, Wis., “they’re just going to cars at night and siphoning gas out of them,” said Stephanie Lehmann, who said several cars in her neighborhood had been hit.
Police in Evansville, Ind., said thieves drained all of the fuel this month from seven trucks belonging to a local office of JBM Inc., a metal fabrication chain. They put the loss at $700.
And police in Denver are investigating a rash of of incidents in which thieves drill small holes into gas tanks and siphon off the fuel. “This is clearly not the way it’s been done in the past, by taking a hose and putting it in a gas tank,” police Detective John White said.
How to thwart gas thievesPolice suggest taking the following steps to keep your car safe:
— Park in a locked garage.
— If you park on the street, position your vehicle under street lighting.
— When away from home, park in well-lighted and well-traveled areas.
Avoid parking in public lots for long periods of time.
— Avoid parking where your fuel door would be obscured by heavy landscaping, isolated corners or high walls.
— Consider buying a locking gas cap.
Contact police if you see any suspicious behavior around unattended parked vehicles.
__ Consider surveillance camera’s to catch
a thief in the act and use as evidence to convict them.

Well, I lost by dession I could have served it up better to the guy but just held back. I was not in a fight mode like I should have been had lots on my mind besides his fist LOL. I was not even tired the ref said for a big guy and your not even breathing hard. A cop in the back said to me that I was a Tuff SOB and was his hero. Wow that supprized me.
My wifes step dad is in the hospital in Abilene, TX and not doing well they almost lost him I was going there after my fight so that was all on my mind and I kinda did not want to win so I would not have to be back to fight on Sat. Not saying this as an excuess for not winning. I could have beat the guy I fouht I just held back. Any way I had fun and as always learned from it.

My training has been going good. I am seeing results and all but sure wish I was seeing more drastic results. I can tell ive gained some muscle but not loosing as much fat as I would like. My diet is probley the reason. I am just going to have to try harder on that. Anyway I hope that within about 8 weeks I can do something great with my self as that is when the MuscleTech contest ends. Anyone who wants to support me sure would be helpfull and thanks to those who already do. God Bless.
