Results Not Typical… If You’re a Wimp
Saturday, March 14th, 2009
Here’s an article from Chris Shugart at T-muscle. It really hit home with me, so I thought I’d share it over here.
(I did clean up the language though.)
I’ve blogged about this before, but it’s something I just keep thinking about: “typical” results from training, diet, and good supplements.
These thoughts were spurred by conversations at the Physique Clinic. One of our participants asked if his results were typical. (I think it was Chris Bartl.) He wanted to know how his results compared to other people’s results.
Well, he’d lost 30 pounds of fat at that time and looked like a new man, so my first instinct was to say that his results were way above average, not typical at all.
But let’s think about that for a minute:
* Most people half-heart their training.
* Most people half-heart their diet. (Can you quarter-heart your diet? ‘Cause that’s more accurate for a lot of folks.)
* Most people even half-heart their supplement usage by buying garbage products, not taking their supplements consistently or properly, etc.
So, they get half-heart results, lose their motivation, and end up quitting or yo-yo’ing. Those are “typical” results. Welcome to average. Whoopee.
But combine 100% hardcore dedication — in the gym and at the dinner table — with focused effort and a take-no-prisoners attitude, and jaw-dropping physique transformations are, well, typical.
In other words, that’s just what happens when you cut the crap, do everything right, and stop being such a wimp.
Most people are wimps though, either training wimps or diet wimps or both. That’s "typical." And that sucks.
Why even do this? Why go to the gym if you’re going to phone in your workout? Why even bother buying healthy foods if you’re going to eat donuts at work and stop by Taco Hell on the way home? Jeez, man the ^%$# up.
Seriously, it gets old. I make a living basically helping people transform their bodies, and even I get tired of hearing it. It ain’t rocket science. There are no secrets.
You. Know. What. To. Do.
No whining, no rationalizing, no excuse making, no "aw shucks, I messed up, ain’t I funny?" self-effacing b.s. .
Cut the "typical" half-heartedness. Do it or don’t do it.
Decide now to commit or shut up about it.
