I’m in danger of being a hypocrite re: my signature

I was going to blog about how I have so-o-o-o many problems with regards to getting my workouts in/meals prepared/sleep ’slept’ etc. when I realized that I’m fortunate. I don’t have any problems that I can’t overcome with focus and drive.

  With that said, I apologize to all who read this for the complaints that I almost lodged. You don’t need to hear somebody else whine. I vow to post good and positive things that will hopefully motivate both others as well as myself to accomplishing our goals.

Yesterday’s diet:

coffee, 1 multi-vitamin, 1 niacin vitamine, 1 b-vitamin ‘energy shot’

1 gingersnap, 3 cranberry biscotti

2 turkey wraps: 8 oz. total smoked turkey, 2 oz total shredded chedder, 2 C lettuce, 2 tortillas, 4 T brown mustard

Interesting

Well this is interesting. My strength is increasing with each workout and my measurements are improving steadily. However, my bf% is yo-yoing from week to week (7 days between scans) between 24 and 23%. My weight has also plateaued at 224 ish. I’m going to buckle down on my food intake (quality, quanity, and time consumed) beginning today and see if I can get down to 222-220 and 23% in the next week or so.

In any event, I’m getting much more support from my family and congregation in regards to my health. My wife has been an absolute saint and uber-woman about watching the boys while I take some me time to go and workout, even though she’s home with them all of the time and truly deserves more of a break than I’m able to give her. Also, my visitation and meeting schedule has actually improved since I reintroduced the 3 day a week reserved time for workouts. Granted, I’m not being a stickler with them, but I am making them up if an emergency happens to arise during those times. Furthermore, I’ve had more energy and clearer concentration during my prayers and worship prep.

Yesterday’s menu:

1 banana

2 tortilla’s, 1/2 C shredded Chedder Cheese, 12 oz Turkey Breast, 4 T Brown Mustard

2 grilled burritos: 2 tortillas, 1/2 C shredded chedder, 10 oz ground beef/ground turkey mix, 4 T refried fat free vegetarian beans, 2T salsa.

Too Long

It’s been 2 long weeks since I’ve written a blog. I’m back now (thank goodness for Thanksgiving). The Gym has been slow but life has been fast. Had another death in the congregation (suicide) and some other odds and ends to work on (annual budget, filling staff position, etc.). It’s almost comical the way that the phone seems to automatically ring on the second-or-third set of a workout.            

Anyway, weight is comming down. Lifts are going up. Found a great 5×5 calculator from Mochi’s post in the forum and it seems to be doing its job. I’ve missed DL’s for 2 weeks now and only had one each workout of bench and squats (I’m not counting the partial ‘2-set’ workouts). Also, I’m going to start HIIT over as I never really got into a groove with it.

Today will be Squat work and HIIT

Yesterday I ate:

     1/3 cup honey nut cheerios, 1/4 C milk, coffee

     1 can tuna, 1 large salad, 1/2 C salsa, 2T greek dressing

     2 slices whole wheat bread, 4T peanut butter

     1 Chicken breast, 1 onion, 1 carrot, 1 slice whole wheat bread, 1 C green beans

     1 apple with cinnamon

ARRRRGH! Weight came back!

Weekends stink. Had visitors and got sidetracked for 2 days (Saturday and Sunday), which happen to be my most busy days anyway. Weighed in Monday and Tuesday Morning at 226.5 (up 2.5 from last week.) And it’s been long enough to rule out bloating and retention. So, time to plot out meals on the weekends. Probably pre-cook them too.

I’m going to start HIIT this week as well. I printed up the chart and details from Muscle Media’s archives. Since the weather is cold and I have the family to watch during workouts I’m going to start it on the treadmill and elliptical trainer in the basement. Maybe get the jumprope out to the garage where the ceilings are higher as well. Wish me luck.

Week 2 continued

Well, I survived Halloween with my will-power intact! My bf % is down and my muscles seem to be remembering what I’ve required of them in the past, so (fingers crossed) onward we go. My hours this week have limited the amount of productive cardio that I’ve been able to get in so I’ve not been able to have my reward snacks. But hey, if the weight keeps comming off and the lifts keep improving, I can live without popcorn and warm vanilla milk.

Diet yesterday:

3/4 C. oatmeal, 1 banana, 2 T. milk

2/3 C. fat free vegetarian refried beans, 1/2 cup cooked cilantro rice, 2 oz. shredded chedder, 4 T. salsa

1 giant salad (5 C. or so), (lettuce, carrot, red cabbage, green pepper, onion, tomato, cilantro, garlic), 12 oz. grilled chicken breast, 3 T. greek dressing, 1/2 C. peas in chicken broth
